Hmmm, im not convinced.

Is every spurs fan who chants Yid doing it out of a desire to reclaim the word for the Jewish fans?

Are non-Jewish Spurs fans less antisemitic than non-Jewish other fans? Are Spurs fans less racist in general than other football fans - i highly doubt it. I spent a lot of time at Spurs in the 90s and mid 00's. There was a lot of questionable shit being said about people constantly. Also singing along to songs with the term Yid in it doesnt immediately make you a 'friend of the Jews'.

Let's be honest - it's a tribal thing for the most part now.

And look, again, like i said in my last post - some jews like it, some don't. I'm not here to judge either - just to give perspective.
Spurs fans are known as Yids regardless if they're each actually Jewish or not. So that's the context of the chants that they do.

I'm not arguing to use the word myself in general, rather I don't think it should be banned as our Jew positive football chant.
It's not being yelled as a slur by our fans.

yeah and that is the crux but, and i hear this argument from others about it - it also bring negative stuff back that may otherwise not happen -

ultimately, as I have said, if it's making people uncomfortable, then it is a worthwhile discussion to have. No one owns a word.

I don't know how long Spurs fans have been doing it, say since the year 2000? Nothing negative has come of it has it?

It (The Y Word) was definitely sung/clapped/used at the 1987 FA Cup Final.
It's been used (by Spurs fans) WAY before that...
I might be mistaken, but I'm sure it was around the latte '70s...
I'm almost positive it was chanted at Villa Park in the 1982 FA Cup Semi Final...

But then that was overshadowed somewhat by the abuse Ardiles & Villa got from Leicester fans for daring to be Argentinian!! ...we were probably the only set of fans in the Country openly supporting Argentinian players... so it's nothing new to have to 'excuse ourselves' to other, small minded fans....

It's who we are Amigo!

I can recall it being used at the West Brom semi in '82, so could well have been at Villa Park too.

I had a Jewish GF - I didn't know what a Gentile even was.

I went to their Mum's house & went to the kitchen to get a glass of water because I don't like asking for something I can do myself so I went into their kitchen. I got screamed at in Hebrew by her Mother & her Grandma for 5 minutes before they realised I had no idea.

Her Dad was a Spurs fan came over and explained then afterwards we got drunk & shouted YID ARMY embarrassing our female counterparts & partners till the sun rose.

YID ARMY!!!!

What did he say, because I don't understand and don't ever want to be in that situation myself?
Gentiles in the kitchen if it's Kosher has a lot of rules - the best rule as a Gentile is just not be in it - want anything in a Jewish household be humble & ask before doing anything. There's pots that are used for specific things also certain knives and forks.

After he said this as we were drunk :-

"I am drunk dear boy & my daughter likes you I would recommend do not go into the kitchen you want something we will give it to you stay at the table where our conversation shall flow"

He then went on about the FA Cup in 1991 where he went to & I watched on TV where I became a Spurs fan we became friends & I still stalk to him to this day.

I keep this info for my friends dating Jewish girls or Boys for clarity :-

Baddiel was born in 1964, so he'd have been on the terraces when Chelsea fans first started chanting Yids at Spurs fans in the 70's, along with the Auschwitz songs and the gas chamber hissing, yet he waits until 2013 to label Spurs fans as racist for using it as a badge of honour?

Where was his outrage 10, 20, 30 years before that when his own scumbag club ACTUALLY used it as a racist slur?

THAT tells you everything you will ever need to know about this filth. Using racism as a stick to beat a rival club, who used the word for positive affirmation, whilst giving his own stain of a club a pass for using the term in a fully racist term full of hate.

You don't need to know what's going on in his head, his actions are eloquent enough.

Quite why anyone would listen to that talentless no mark is beyond me.

I'll try and remember that. Thanks.

I just had a thought...which relates to this...

Is London Red or White?

Would anyone here shout in public 'LONDON IS WHITE!' I'm all about White Supremacy in London if it's regarding Spurs being the best! because we play in Lily White...unless you have a kit pre 1991 & you have to use Vanish not cos it's stained just cos that crap we paid £100 for loses it whiteness to become a stank beige or god forbid SOCK GRAY...

The above may sound racist, if you don't understand the context or intent...
