This what I've been complaining about. There's genuinely no rhythm to our play. No little quick one twos or little patterns, that most PL players can do, and players here have done. So one dimensional. It's really crap.
It's getting worse by the game too. 5 months now and it looks like they've never played together. For all the crying about Deki and Madders, we replaced them with £110m on two players, that loads here wanked themselves dry over, but now we're missing them massively. This form can't decide if the hate or love Deki either, but since he's down, he's the most important player ever. It's just nonsense. It's really crap, it's not going to get better. Just have to buckle through it.
It will improve over time, but perhaps not fast enough for some. For me I am more realistic- the club did not outfit this squad properly, and we've been massively overrated by our own fans. There's a lot of work to be done to develop these players yet, and we're basically back at the start of it all now. Patience!

So, in summary, Frank has a bloody impossible job on his hands. I see tiny fragments of potential progress. That’s probably all we can realistically hope for right now. He needs time, money and resources we may not even have. But I’ll keep the faith and back the man for now. God knows what the alternative is.…………….this is indeed the scenario we gave Ange two seasons some were gonna give him 3 !!!!!!!Thomas Frank has far more ideas than him

Honestly if we finish top 8 this season and have a decent cup run somewhere that should be seen as a massive improvement from Ange ball 17thdom.

If we don't make a massive move for a LW this winter, we'll all seriously need to cut Frank some slack- we'll just not be competitive as the other top clubs and there'll be no debating about that.

Let’s remember that basically our entire front 4 from last year was either sold or currently injured. Madders, Son, Deki, Solanke. Once Deki and Dom are back we should have more attacking power. That said, what we are currently trying just isn’t working.

We looked so good in that PSG game. If we are going to play more defense with Joao and Bent why not try a 442. Kudus and Johnson or Kolo Muani up top. Xavi and Lucas 10/8. 2 holding midfielders and the back 4. The 433 ain’t working with the current personnel.

At lest with the 442 we can try and hit on the counter and play some balls for our quicker players to run onto. And hopefully make us compact and hard to breakdown. We are currently having real trouble breaking through any type of press. And even when we do we have no one to carry the ball forward and make a decent pass to link play. That’s the big issue. Why not overload the middle of the park to give us some advantage. I do hope Frank figures it out. At least we aren’t losing a ton but he has to change something soon.

Yeah Odobert has some good qualities and is a talented prospect but that's it - he's a prospect. A 20 year old kid with 6 goals and 4 assists in English football. And he's currently the first choice left winger for a team with CL aspirations...

Not to mention he's clearly an upgrade on Johnson who we dropped 50m quid on who looks like a league 1 player unless you build the entire team around his finishing.

Then you add Rich and Tel into the equation - that's a bottom 6 front-line when you take out Solanke, Maddison, Kulu, RKM (and even with them it's upper-mid table at best).

We badly need to get a proper striker in the 11 and sign a proper LW. Frank's not been brilliant but he's also been playing with one hand tied behind his back. And he's only had like 10 games ffs.

Devils advocate.

Frank has turned a side that finished 17th into one that looks like it might finish top 8 and is still competing in the Champions League.

The team’s crap. Not the manager.

Lost Son and Maddison in all that too.

Season started bright enough with, the super cup final .
Since the win at west ham, its largely been flat and dull, lucky not to have lost against wolves at home.
Team is barely creating or having shots on goal, i think they mustered 2 last night pathetic.
Looks like a mid table finish, cant see this lot finishing any higher, average team, average manager and average finish.

So you want to sack him now?
I think there needs to be acknowledgement that if things don't change, that could be a possibility. It can't go on like this. We play like this against the teams we have coming up and we're going to get thrashed. Getting thrashed and playing like that will get the match going fans upset, and the board have said they want to win, they can't say one thing and do another of they want the fans to believe their shpeal.

Franks done a lot of good things. Right now there are 3 decisions he’s sticking to imo that threaten his whole project if he doesn’t figure them out:

1. JP and RB double pivot. This doesn’t even work for away games, it just destroys any chance of team cohesion with the ball.

2. Bergvall in the 10. This is an egregious mis profiling Toby. Kid was voted player of the season because of his ability to carry the ball from deep and mix it up physically in MF. Trying to concert him was just being cute for no reason.

3. Sarr and Gray minutes in CM. They need chances to play. And imo both have earned them.

No no it is not, what it is, is the after math of 20+ years of Levy.

You are jsut going to have to suck it up and be greatful we are not losing the majority of the games like we was last season.

Feck, I would love us to play like peak Barcelona, but that is never going to happen, we don't have the players or the squad depth. We have just three new additions to the team so far, that barely was able to make two passes without giving the ball away...

It's going to be horrible, and till we can start making changes, and what frank has has shored us up, so we are not leaking 2-3 goals every fecking game.

But every now and then, we see a little of what we can be in the future, you just have to be patient and understand where we are as club and chill, other wise your going to be dribbling in the corner in a mental hospital.
We're about to start losing the majority of our games. We should've lost most of them so far, but we're not playing the relegation certs anymore. Once performances match results, we're in diffs. And it's only trending down as opposed to up. Plays don't look into this what so ever.

I don't let football affect my mental health, I've been conditioned this way supporting this club 😂

One second they complain the squad is garbage, to much mediocrity and players that need to be sold, the attack has zero bite to it... Then next minute, they berate a manager who can't perform miracles with a shit show of squad.

It as much hilarious as it is embarrassing.

If you have a manager the is eking out results with a shit show, he is probably doing a good job.

Yeah, we got a draw from Monaco and the performance was not the greatest by any stretch of the imagination, but Monaco is no pony, we had a rough opponent, but we still got a point out of it and remain unbeaten.
Hum hum...Monaco been very poor so far this season. And yet we made them look like Brazil from that 1970 World Cup.

The money we are spending is not the real issue, it's the fact that we just target shit, and pay over the odds for it. That's the bigger issue for me, and hopefully the CEO and everyone else, can spend that money and more a little bit more wisely, and where we need it.
Spot on.

But somehow I'm not that in love with nor got a lot of trust in our new CEO, not sure why.

Frank works as much on attacking as Ange did on defense and set pieces.

If you are playing against Spurs you don’t need to work on a defensive plan in the lead up. Just work on defending our set pieces and throw ins and we aren’t scoring.

We will throw in some low % crosses that should be easy to deal with and after that, we’ve got literally nothing as an attacking team atm.

Lots of work for Frank and Cochrane to figure out.

Listen, of there was some decent football, like a light at the end of the tunnel id be happy. But this is completely unacceptable. Man for man, minus Akliouche, we had better player than Monaco, but they utterly dominated us. That was their managers first game, but he has them ticking.
Our players that were there before have all been in sides that could play quick, snappy football. This style, for want of a better word, is laborious, stodgy, predictable and so easy to play against. We're getting carved up nearly every game, so the "hard to beat" nonsense isn't really a factor.

This is getting worse by the game. That was the one win in the next month or so I seen us getting, but another load of crap was served up. Of we don't get a win in our next 5 games or so, which I really can't see, is it time for alarm bells? We're actually no better off against teams we faced last season, which is shocking.
You're being a bit of a drama queen.
We DO look better in defence and defensive midfield. Let's just nail that down and then move on to fixing the rest.

Your not wrong at all.

Coming here and reading half the stuff, just makes my braincells commit suicide.

I get it, if by Christmas next year, we are still playing like a donkey on crack, then yeah, questions need to be raised, depending on circumstances.

But lets see what happens in the windows and where we are as club, it's going to take time, and as you say ENIC need to step up, and put not just their money, but their wisdom, and not spunk money up the tree, on a lot mediocre crap.

The money we are spending is not the real issue, it's the fact that we just target shit, and pay over the odds for it. That's the bigger issue for me, and hopefully the CEO and everyone else, can spend that money and more a little bit more wisely, and where we need it.

Our model has clearly been about spending reasonable to high fees on players who look likely to breakout soon. They're typically on, and demand lower wages than a bonafide superstar.
It generally hasn't been working.
Romero, Spence, maybe Porro have cemented their place in the first team.
Bergvall and Sarr might.
Not sure about Gray, Tel, Odobert at all.
I think given the sheer number of goals, it's harsh that Johnson gets so much flack, when players who offer so much less get away with it.

We finished 17th last season, some fans need to adjust their expectations. To go from near-relegation to Champions League is a huge, bizarre step and we clearly lack the quality in the squad to make that jump smoothly.

We started Richarlison and Odobert last night, two mediocre players who were completely irrelevant last season, and Bergvall as a 10 who was playing as a defensive midfielder last season. We had no Romero or Udogie and had to play a teenage midfielder at LB.

I don’t think there’s much more that any manager could get from the players we currently have available.

Not to make this about Ange, but for all his failings I do think getting the returns he did out of Johnson was kind of miraculous - and it was largely done by focusing so much of our attack around creating cut-backs. I'd wager like 60-70% of his goals and assists at Spurs have been from scoring or assisting cut-backs.

Put him in a system that's not build around that or hitting teams on the break and he looks worse than the Doncaster attackers we came up against the other month. He needs to be sold ASAP while he still has a semblance of credit in the bank - he won't be anywhere near as productive under Frank.
