Agree to disagree but for me the FA Cup is nowhere near bigger than a European Trophy. Probably the conference. But the FA Cup has been massively demeaned over the years.

But regardless, we aren’t winning the league in our lifetime without a change in direction, so the cups are all we have.

For years so many fans have said they wouldn’t take 4th over a cup. Seems I was wrong.
Last seasons league performance was so woeful though that we are not talking about not getting 4th, we're talking about 17th. That's not just poor, it is unspeakably abysmal. Talking about wanting 4th over a trophy is a red herring.

If we won the Europa and finished 10th Ange would probably still be here.

Regarding that old dilemma about is it that the players are shit or is it that the manager is shit. Who is the bigger contributor to our current predicament.

For me it has to be down to Frank. And the reason is, the other managers with inferior squads are doing a far better job. I am not talking about results, because results don't always tell the truth. You don't always get what you deserve.

SO I look at is the manager getting the best out of the players. How is he coaching them. Style of play. Attacking patterns. Chance creation. Organising the defence.

All of these, Frank is failing miserably.

There is no doubt we have some really overated players. Porro, Vicario, Udogie, Bentacur, Johnson, Odobert, Richarlison, Spence.. They simply aren't as good as many fans think they are. On top of that we have a bunch of young players, who have proven very little and can't be relied upon in the PL.

Our recruitment has also been shocking.

There is no doubt that Lange needs to be sacked. He's totally clueless.

But the question is, will another manager get more out of this squad, including the players who are overrated. And it's a definite yes.

Just because Ange was a clown fraud, it doesn't mean his replacement is good by default.

The truth is we fucked up with the Frank appointment. I'd rather roll the dice, keep rolling it until we find a manager who shows he is good enough. We can't risk keeping Frank and getting relegated.
I take issue with how casually people assume that most squads are inferior than ours. I think this is mostly fan bias.

Yes we have Romero and VDV who generally perform to a very high level but outside of that what do we really have?

Is Danso any better than Tarkowski?
Is Bergvall better than Kiernan Dewsbury Hall?
Could Odobert do what Harry Wilson did?
Richarlison is no better than Jimenez

We then have the likes of Muani and Xavi who come in with a reputation because they have performed well in pub leagues but we see this doesn't always translate.

When you actually go man for man across a squad I reckon we have clearly better players than maybe 4 -5 teams MAXIMUM (Leeds, Burnley, West Ham, Wolves) and we have 10 points from 12 against that lot.

Forest, Fulham, Sunderland, Everton I'd say we are about par with now noting that some of these teams have much better specific areas (i.e. Forest midfield, Everton attack).
Palace, United, Newcastle, Bournemouth, maybe Brentford have better 11's.

And then obviously we are miles away from the rest.

Media narrative plays a big part and players naturally are assumed to be of a higher level when they play for a club like Spurs. If we are real about it, the vast majority of our squad would not look out of place at Everton or Forest. Odobert is still a Burnley level player for example.

One of the media reports we are looking at Xavi as a replacement if results don't improve by the end of December. If that is so why are we waiting until things are that bad or until some other club snaps him up.

There is no bond with Thomas Frank.

He has no Spurs credentials and his bounce came mainly during the pre season and the first home game against Burnley.

It was the same with Nuno.

There is nothing to get hold of apart from buying into the project line which Sunderland's current 'project' completely undermines.

Football is entering a new phase.

Entertainment and particularly entertaining, maverick, players are thin on the ground.

The coach, the philosophy, the data and lots of running are all important.

Except they're nothing of the sort.

They're a fucking bore tbh.

I suspect the desire at United and Spurs is for the legacy supporters to give up.

They are bed blocking the young supporters who the franchise owners wish to exploit going forward into their brave new world.

I would take winning a cup instead of fourth place - but that discussion was always about CL qualification. Not about losing 22 games and finishing 17th.
I don’t disagree there.

But it’s why he lost his job. Because even Levy knew that was unacceptable and damaging.

I feel that some of that tolerance towards losing is partly why Frank is struggling.

In the history of football what other team has ever done this. You can do both ye know

Yes you can but the simple fact is Conte didn't do it, Mourinho didn't do it, Poch didn't do it, AVB didn't do it and Redknapp didn't do it.

All of those managers had far better squads than the dross we had last season (and this season).

So, on balance, I'm very very happy Ange Postecoglou binned off the league from March onwards to give us the best chance at winning our first European Trophy in 40 years. Very glad.

Even more glad now he's gone and things haven't miraculously got better because we still haven't signed any footballers who can pass the fucking thing. :D

Frank is used to losing.

He can't understand why some of our supporters don't want to accept it in the same manner as he is used to.

He's from fucking Denmark and Brentford.

The Danish only win awards for bacon and pastries.

It's not kosher.

Young supporters aren’t what they want. They want the international market.

Streaming and a world super league with no relegation is the dream for the owners.

You can’t scale up that much over 60k to 80k fans in a stadium. And as we see now the fans don’t pay that much. Especially not 20-30 year olds.

Look at ticket prices for NFL in the US. That’s the dream. Just need a bigger market to achieve those numbers.
Spurs v Real Madrid on a Saturday night at 8pm would sell out.
Fulham not so much.

I see what you did there.

But they also have Bang & Olufsen ; so they knew how to build a system (with high-class components) and get a tune out of it . Looks stylish too.

Funny how we took Brentford’s manager and staff, they replace the whole lot and they’re the same mid table club as they were last year.

We have the Danish Graham Potter. It’s like the people in charge just scour the internet reading Twitter shitposts to scratch together their shortlist.
