Player Timo Werner

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Any links to Ange saying that he wouldn’t criticise a player in public?

Not doubting you but I’ve been debating all day with a few mates Ange’s decision to dig one player out in a shocking display by the rest of the side with only Forster coming out with any credit so I need ammunition!

Personally I believe Ange was totally wrong to do that and shows a total lack of class and ignorance of man management!

Whether it was true about Werner being lazy is irrelevant imv as any criticism Ange had should have been made to Timo’s face in private and never should have gone public!

Hopefully this will be the last straw for Levy and he’ll fire the waste of space on Monday after we lose at Soton!
Link attached below from ESPN.

About half way down the article where he’s criticising Romero for his comments, Ange says:

"Cristian realises what he said ... A lot of what he said was good, some wasn't right and shouldn't have been done in public," Postecoglou told a news conference on Wednesday.

"We deal with these things in our own four walls. There's always issues we need to deal with. The same way I wouldn't criticise a player or anyone else, we shouldn't be doing that in a public sense.”

Hypocrisy off the scale!

Thanks for that!

I'll just say this: I'd get rid of Ange way before I got rid of the lad.

Timo was elite once. Ange never was and never will be.

Chin up, kid.

Well this is a turn up for the books.

Expected everyone to be behind Ange calling out Werner for his performance since this thread is basically full of posters doing the same thing for months.

Quite surprised the feeling is that we shouldn't be saying how awful Werner has been. He was terrible yesterday.

He was terrible as you say but the point here is that a decent manager shouldn’t have called him out publicly especially after saying three days before that he would never do that!!

Disgraceful man management imv

The Romero thing is different for me.

The players shouldn't be concerning themselves with off the field issues, especially when we're playing shit on the pitch. Romero should shut up about Levy and concentrate on being the leader to improve performances.

The softly softly nicely nicely approach with Werner has been tried to death and there's been no improvement. Happy to try some public flogging...hopefully he'll take it on board and use it productively.

Agree about Romero

He just wants out so get a decent price for him and fuck him off!

With Timo he needs a manager who understands man management like Harry Redknapp who would probably put his arm round him and give him gentle encouragement like he did Bale

Not publicly throwing him under the bus in a live TV interview three days after him saying that he would never do that!

He hasn’t got a clue.

Mate I got the feeling that Romero's comments were just him getting his own noose ready for the summer transfer season , wouldn't be surprised to see another comment or two before then .

Nah to me it's just another stick to beat Ange with.

He gets pelter when he seems too passive about shit performances, and now gets pelters when he's taking action.

If Werner's pissed off...good. Stand up on Sunday and do something. Otherwise what's the point. People on here have been slagging Timo off since last season and now they wanna defend him cos nasty Ange said he wasn't performing.

We need the players to fight. Timo decided he couldn't control a ball in space yesterday. What good is that to us?

Sorry , not making apologies for Ange but Timo is 28 and an international , if he still needs an arm around his shoulders and quiet platitudes at his age then he's finished .
Personally I think it was a ploy , Timo on loan so if your going to call out a player then make it someone easy enough to move on if needed . I have said for a while some of the players have needed a fair kick up the arse , maybe this is it .
If I'm Ange I start Timo on Sunday , on the left and see if he has let the tiger loose .
I find most players are prima donna's and sometimes some mind games are required .
I could also be completely off the mark , just ramblings .

I think Ange to often comes out and criticises the players publicly. Last year he went on about the front third not being good enough. Whilst he didn’t name anyone, the players aren’t stupid and know when it’s directed at them.

Go back to Ferguson, Wenger, Mourinho at Chelsea etc. the post match press conference was always bagging out the referee or talking about how unlucky they were. They never talked about how their team put in a poor performance. Whether that’s what they thought or not, it meant that they kept the players on their side because they never directly or indirectly criticised their players.

I think Ange is too open and honest in his press conferences. Players are more sensitive than ever.
