Sorry mate but the line "billionaire owner and dip into his own pockets" is utter nonsense. With the exception of PSG and City and Chelsea about 10yrs ago (the Russian is still owed £1b!!) no owner does this. It's not what happens in any form of business be that football or otherwise.
We ARE being left behind by City & Utd, that is the fact and that will continue to remain as the fact (they are also pulling away from Liverpool, Chelsea and Woolwich), their revenue will continue to rise, as ours will also do, but they will continue to pull away despite our improved revenue growth. I'm not having a pop here but your expectations are way, way off kilter. We will close the financial gap to the other clubs but not City or Utd they will continue to pull away, the gap will get bigger not smaller.
But despite this we have beaten City on the pitch the past few seasons and we are beating Utd on the pict this season as well as in recent years. The formulae we apply will not go away, it will be reapplied because it's working, it's evenied by all bar a few clubs in World football, so much so that even Real Madrid envy what we are doing and rumours are they want Poch so that they might apply the same philosophy seeing that they have invested massively in youth in the past few years.
So what does all this boil down to? We will have closed the financial gap to all our rivals in the PL with the exception of City and Utd. and I think PSG. We will have closed the financial gap to all other clubs in world football, specifically Juve (we will overtake them), Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern. Meaning that the capacity for all these other clubs to buy our players is significantly reduced. So just how many players will City buy from us all at world record fees? The biggest threat we have as I see it is Utd., why? Because they are clearly still and very underwhelming side, their entire defence is pony, in fact look across the entire squad it reeks of average.
The pool of clubs who can afford our players is getting smaller and smaller. Finally, our model is the envied one but no-one talks about this. The narrative that feeds us all is we must pay more to stop all our players leaving. No-one has even bothered to ask the question how have Tottenham been able to hold onto their players? This should be asked because we have only lost one player, meanwhile Liverpool and Woolwich continually lose their best players every single year, add Barca to that list too. The constant narrative is driving the fear of our fans, yet there is zero evidence to support this fear, in fact we continue to improve, we continue to buy well and develop and keep the squad together. Take a step back and reevaluate Tottenham and where we are in the competitive landscape, we have nothing to fear, we are the club that is feared.
