Aren't there rules that would make Woolwich vs City on the opening day impossible?

Something like top 4, 5 or 6 teams will not face each other on the opening day?

Seem to remember something like this we fell outside of then ended up with City at home.

Expect us to be away from home anyway.

There was such a rule a few years ago (I think it applied to the top four), but the PL fixture list creation rules don't mention it now, so maybe it was scrapped.

Just when you thought it was almost over it starts again in five weeks with the release of all 380 2024-25 EPL fixtures at 09:00 on Tuesday 18 June. Key points:

- The 2024/25 season will consist of 33 weekends, four midweek rounds of matches and one Bank Holiday Matchweek.

- The Premier League 2024/25 season dates have been confirmed, with the campaign starting on 17 August 2024, 90 days after the 2023/24 Premier League concludes on 19 May.

- The final match round of the 2024/25 season will be played on 25 May 2025, when all matches will kick off simultaneously as usual.

- In keeping with previous commitments made to clubs to address the congested schedule across Christmas and New Year, arrangements will be made to allow more rest time over three of the festive match rounds, with no club playing within 60 hours of another match. There will be no fixture on 24 December 2024.

- The mid-season break has been removed from the calendar to allow a mid-August start date for the Premier League.

- There will be three fucking international breaks before Xmas.

No. Each team plays 38 matches, but half of those 38 are replicated by each of the other teams (aka the away games).

For instance we play Woolwich twice and they play us twice, but that's 2 matches, not 4.
