Some equate living the rivalry with being a "true fan". I disagree and even count many Woolwich fans among my friends. They would be my last choice to win the league yes, so I'm part of it too, but I want, and will always want, Spurs to win every game we play. And beating City would be huge for our team. I completely disagree with the idea of some posters on this forum that in a roundabout way, because of fans' rivalries, it would actually be better for our players, and the development of the team, to lose the game. A win vs City is massive
It is precisely because we are “true fans” of Spurs as you put it, that most of us want to lose tomorrow. Woolwich fans will piss their pants if we turn up and give them the league. They will be smugly singing about it for decades to come

We would be all bang up for it if Spurs were in the Europa Final. It's a meaningful tournament with some very decent teams.
I agree.... After all it WAS the last European competition we won!

Why belittle it by calling it the Ropey/Farmers league...
Why are WE so entitled, that we can pick and choose a competition we seem WORTHY or bothering to participate in...

Fuck that. We qualify for the Europa League, we take it seriously.l, and treat it with respect.

Just like we should the FA and League Cups!

Think what fucks me off most us we' re back here again having some say, good or bad on them winning the title like Old Trafford in 99 or them winning it at our place in 2004. Its why the cries for patience after another mediocre season are starting to wear a bit thin.
Cries for patience and also have people saying about how Ange wants to win the game haha, fucking hell, good luck with that Ange.

I guarantee if we win that game, the manager and players will be slaughtered if the scum win the league.

Football is tribal, it always has been, always will be, the kind of holier than thou hipster people who think they are above the tribalism are the reason this fucking club has become so soft over the years.

You don't see that kind of mentality at the big clubs who win trophies but we have these boring twats here who don't care if the scum win the league and think top four is a trophy and more important, embarrassing "supporters" I have even witnessed someone say in this very thread they would rather Woolwich win it than City, you cannot ever convince me that person is a Spurs supporter.

There is an article in the Guardian today where Saliba says they will all be Spurs fans on Tuesday.

If they really want the full Spurs fan experience then we should give them the crushing disappointment we all feel at the end of the season.

Think About It GIF by Identity

Havertz said it too.

Very high potential to come back and bite them on the Arse

You can only really get away with making 1-3 changes anyway. Can do that in the league cup and FA cup and you can play youth in the PL occasionally.
Much better than making 8-9 changes for the ropey league and going out.
agree 1-3 changes max without ruining the momentum and rhythm of the side (if you have any).

but if managed correctly its a good comp! the third most prestigious comp you can win after CL and league.

Oh how I wish I was as superior as the precious MeGa FaNz who want us to literally hand our arch-enemy a Premiership Title.

*Their first in 20 YEARS; something which has split their fanbase and created mass disharmony and infighting, ongoing.

For them to hold it over us and taunt us with, FOREVER (especially NLDs); not only for providing them with a +1 on us, to their cabinet haul, but for us being so...fucking...DUMB to be the ones to boost them firmly into the very top tier.

Further increasing their marketability around the world, making them even more attractive to the very best players in the world, so they can continue being much better than us.

Cementing their burgeoning confidence - cleansing them of all remaining self-doubt - kicking them into overdrive to dominate over us and consolidate into the future, Instead of causing them to crash and blow it AGAIN, which would likely send them into a spiral and further ingrain their remaining insecurity and self-doubt in ever having the minerals to actually make it.

Not to mention the fan meltdown, toxic mayhem and open war between the social media gen Artetasexuals and old-core fans who want to actually win things, there.

I just hope I can one day reach that great height of fandom, from which the wise few around here look down upon the rest.

😇

To be clear my "true fans" points was in response to a previous poster listing members of this forum who he felt were not legit fans as they wanted Spurs to win tomorrow.

tbf, we actually last won it, when it was much harder to win. Harder than the old European Cup truth be told.

What you should all be hoping for is a Villa win tonight.
That ends any chance of CL football, gives us nothing to play for and whether we roll over or just get tonked doesn't matter.

I get the managers and players. If they were ever fans then they've long since forgotten. Most arent from the area so dont have gobby work colleagues, family or friends of rival team chopsing off to them. They just dont get it.

Villa will likely get something from their 2 games and even if they dont what the hell would we do with the champions league place anyway? Only good player we've ever bought after qualification is Van Der Vaart 13 years ago.

yea 1/4 finals onwards is proper stuff! respectable comp to win! also another route into CL.

and win it and youre one game away from winning another trophy...alright its a glorified charity shield basically but still! european super cup would be lovely lol

I can't ever see us winning it.
Too many games over a season. It took its toll on Liverpool and Villa, hurting Liverpools title challenge and possibly Villa's top 4 challenge. (we'll see this week)

That's not random, that's a pattern.
When West Ham went all the way, they were very nearly relegated.
We spent years and years finishing 5th/6th and getting ropey league and burning out in the PL before the end of the season and missing out on Top 4.
It's a vicious cycle.
I do think a few years in it is great for the likes of say Brighton, or Palace, or Fulham, who rarely get European football.
And yes, I'd rather be in it than nothing next season.
But I wouldn't deliberately throw away a season in the CL if it's on the table, just because of them up the road.

didnt do leverkusen a problem this year.....

Romero? Porro? Kulu & Bentancur at the time. Don't under estimate the excitement we all had about Bissouma.
This place was wanking itself silly over GLC and Ndombele in 2019 don't forget.

Without Champions league it's the likes of Matt Doherty and PEH....

A win vs City is massive

Nope. It just shows our players have a problem with doing their jobs. Being a team that shows up occasionally isn’t a sign of anything good.

A win versus two out of woolwich, Chelsea and Liverpool and drawing the other game would have been massive.
Ideally winning all 3.

That would have shown we turn up when it actually matters. Fighting for the shirt.

We didn’t at all.

And City are levels above us. Fully expect them to prove that tomorrow night.
