What's sad is the number of fans getting excited about stitching Woolwich up for their title challenge. Is that really the closest thing we're going to get to a trophy? Are we going to hire an open top bus and parade the team down the Tottenham High Road because they stopped Woolwich from winning the league?

I think we're better than that. I think we've got a good manager who is helping us build our own success and we owe it to ourselves to perform to the best of our ability in every match.

If you don't get it, I'm not going to explain it to you.

Yep that is where we are. We are not a club that competes for trophies with a significant chance and top 4 isn’t a trophy. That is the reality of where we are, this is not 1980’s Spurs or 1960’s Spurs.

Not sure what all the fuss is about, city will have to have a spectacular melt down to lose to us, the best we can manage would be to go full on "Antonio Mourinho " and hope for a breakaway goal or two.
And that's not going to happen.
My heart says "I'm Spurs - I want to win"
My head says "don't do anything that helps the goons"

The reality is that petrodollar doping trumps clubs who manage their finances with accounts and accountants that balance their books.
Their football team is better than ours and they can see the finish line.

There's enough divisions on TFC without us all slagging one another off over yet another game we can do fuck all about.

Agreed, all this arguing/debating is going to be academic anyway.

wow.

This poll result is pathetic.

How far we have fallen that we wish for defeat in order to spite our rivals. That’s a sad state of affairs.

We should never wish our club to lose for such reasons. Woolwich winning the league exists outside our project and trajectory. In fact, another North London club winning might actually give this club the kick up the arse it needs.

Shame on anyone who wants us to lose, given we can still make the CL.

Pathetic.
So you are calling most Spurs fans on here pathetic. You either don’t really understand the rivalry between Spurs and Woolwich or are not really thinking the consequences through of handing Woolwich the title. Now hate is a strong word that is thrown around far too often these days but when it comes to Woolwich I genuinely hate everything about them. They are a vile scheming entity who throughout their history have undertaken some real murky stuff.

This is the club which came onto our manor because their base in Woolwich was a stinking cesspit.

This is the club who bribed their way into Division 1 after the end of hostilities of WW1 despite finishing 5th in Division 2 in 1914 and have never been out of the top league since.

This is the club who took our best player behind our backs in C#mpb*ll and thought it hilarious to do so.

This is the club who have had a long list of criminal lowlife playing for them.

This is the club who for years had a manager in Wenger who presided over a series of filthy Woolwich teams with awful disciplinary records with the manager always failing to see any of his team’s physical assaults despite watching the same match as everyone else.

This is the team who pipped us to CL qualification in 2012 by winning away at WBA on the last day of the season with all 3 goals being highly questionable against a now deceased goalkeeper who was slotted in at the last minute for his only ever appearance for West Brom .

This is the team with the most arrogant, entitled pundit supporters on the planet, Piers Morgan, Merson and a host of others- don’t even get me started on the full of themselves supporters.

Even today they sing about the times that they won the league at WHL in decades past and would forever dine out on us handing them the title by beating City.

We had a period of 25 years from the late 80’s onwards where we had to play second fiddle to these arrogant tossers and I don’t want another 25 years of that. Woolwich winning the title might be the catalyst for another similar period of Woolwich dominance so be very careful what you wish for.

Yes I know it’s a rant but I hate them!!!

Bravo sir, bravo.

That needs to be printed and framed and put up on 63 posters bedroom walls (it was 64 but someone saw the light and changed their vote this morning).

Crikey, that escalated quickly! haha

I'd say there are 2 areas of thought. Sports rivalry & Fan tribalism.

I personally enjoy football as a sport, enjoy the competition, enjoy the drama and enjoy the banter with my mates and most of all - may the best team win and shake the hand of the winner - that is the meaning of sport.

I don't hate people because they support another team. I don't get into fights, and I don't participant in the abusive tribalism.

Do I want Woolwich to win the league? No. But I don't want to see City win the league again on the back of gross bending/breaking off the rules. If we have a chance to finish 4th, we should take it. The only way we overtake Woolwich is to further enhance our squad; and that Champs League place would sure help with that.

If Woolwich win the league, it is because they have been the best over the season. They certainly shouldn't lose it because Spurs rigged a result.

We’ll have to politely agree to disagree. Fuck the scum.

😊

Kind of seems like a lose lose situation tonight. Is there a way we can lose the game, without looking like we threw it, and to prevent us from being the laughing stock of the league……

I'm torn as to whether or not to watch later, just so conflicted.

It's car crash TV either way irrespective of the outcome.

A plucky yet doomed defeat, 3-2 would do. Play well enough to look like we give a fuck but ultimately come up short.

I think this City team should spank us but I also think football can do some strange things and tonight could be one of them.

No sane Spurs fan should ever want to see Woolwich winning the league or anything for that matter. This place though isn't for the sane.

No.

But they don’t get to either.

I don't have a problem with his broader message..... But that "counseling" comment was a bit shit for starters and he could have just brushed back the fan stuff and put all the focus back on him, the players and the club instead.

It was only that twat Moose that instigated it.... Not like he was subject to some hardcore journalistic interrogation.

Did you actually watch the presser with regards to the counselling comment?

No, I WANTED US to BEAT Woolwich when we played them...

I assume we'd have been 'allowed' to celebrate that without making us look pathetic and small time?

That victory would have put the Arse on 3 less points (and 1 less GD) and effectively put City where they might be tonight if (and that's a small 'if') when they win.

Tonight would and SHOULD have been irrelevant... but it's not, cos we lost the ONE game where we coulda done some proper damage.

This is the next best thing we CAN actually do to redress the balance!

Think of it like this: we BEAT Woolwich, and lost tonight anyway...

Losing tonight (deliberately or not) effectively takes away those three points we so meekly gifted the arse in the first half.

I'm treating a defeat tonight like we'd BEATEN Woolwich a fortnight ago...

And we'd have been OK to celebrate a victory in the NLD, yes? THAT wouldn't make us pathetic now, would it?

Do you see my (warped) logic??

I'm fucking terrified, simply because it's Spurs. The only club in the World that could beat City and then still not qualify for the Champions League because Palace won't beat Villa.
For once in my life Spurs, do the sensible thing and let those blue Mancunian pricks win today.
