Problem with these nouveau clubs is that historically smaller tight knit fanbase. Then the attraction of plastic fans all over the world after they gain riches/bought success.
The scum will pull a bigger crowd though (even though they're all wankers). Yes their ground is bigger but given the same sized grounds they'd still get more.
The money thing is interesting. If Bill Gates bought Dagenham & Redbridge would that make them a big club? Of course not. They don’t have the fans. City and Chelsea are just less extreme versions of the same thing.
I know a guy at work whose brother is a City ST holder (he's originally from Chester) and has been for I guess about 30 years, bad times and all that. He said he's been seriously considering jacking the ST in the last couple seasons, just seems a bit hollow and plastic. Soulless.

Interesting, because it would be entirely temporary. City and Chelsea, not so much. But if they won the champions league i'd say that in many ways they were a big club.
Its like a parallel universe RAWK. Like some creepy Twilight Zone Episode where everything is identical to this reality except there's lizards walking around in suits or something. RAWK is also identical to the world we know except there Liverpool are a top club.
But most of those kids will have no hesitation switching their allegiance somewhere else when Abramovich finally pulls the plug.

Like I said mate depends how you calculate it. I'm obviously not saying Villa have a better side, more money, better prospects or more likes on Facebook. What I'm saying is they probably have a vaguely similar amount of people who follow them through thick and thin as we do, as do Everton. Plus their trophy haul over the years is comparable.
It's the sad truth but lots of the people you now see at Wembley would not be there if we'd been utter shite for ten years then got relegated to the Championship. Look at how easy it was to get a season ticket back in the 90s. By the same token if Villa were in the CL playing against Real Madrid I reckon they'd sell their out their ground twice over, as would Everton. Maybe I'm wrong but it's how I see it (I have no fondness for either of those sides).
And if all traffic lights had strippers on them the world would be a different place. The world is what it is and we are not comparable to Villa, or you might as well chuck in Leeds, Wednesday, Newcastle, Sunderland, Cardiff, Luton etc.
