Match Tottenham vs Forest Monday 21 April 8pm

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Maybe it was Easter , maybe it was people just can’t be arsed anymore & can’t sell their tickets or didn’t bother to list them. I don’t know

I remember Woollich doing something similar with publicizing attendances
I know half a dozen people who tried to sell but were unable to shift. And with Sonny not playing, not so many of his personal fanclub in evidence. The atmosphere was very subdued, I could hear the players on the pitch.

Feels like it was 55k there yesterday. Entire rows on upper west were empty. I could see lots of empty seats on south stand as well. The first batch of people buggered off around 75th minute then it got gradually emptier. Not even the goal could prevent people from leaving. It was a bit strange atmosphere, completely dead at times. People used to get angry before and that was at least some kind of buzz albeit negative.

Is it the same one?

Yeah, that's the one!
I still maintain he picked the trophy slightly too far up the shaft... :ledleylick:
Looks like he's overreaching!!! :porrogasp:

(Alisdair Gold asking the question)
Q: Were you tempted to make your subs earlier as the game was turning?

A: Yeah I could have. But... all these things... are totally irrelevant to me. Substitutions and all those kind of things. If you're not competitive, it doesn't matter what you do, you're not going to get rewards, you don't deserve to win. We didn't deserve on our second-half performance, irrespective of subs or anything else, to get something out of the game. But I think if you do get something out of the game, you're falsely rewarded and I don't want to get falsely rewarded.
I hope this is made up. But since it includes an Ange quote I can't be sure.

Fuck me, any manager worth their salt would be doing far better with this squad than this clown
I'm not being sarcastic, but I genuinely don't know that that's true (with the obvious exception of the vaguery that is 'worth their salt'). I'm not saying a different, specific manager could do better 'right now', they probably could. But who gives us more than a month-long bounce?

Most managers would have struggled to stay in top-of-the-league contention with Timo and BJ et al and the injuries we've had with a fairly meh squad. I reckon Ange has done worse than some (maybe most?), but better than others would. Jose, conte and nuno clearly aren't mugs and they all failed here.

I've asked it before, but who (living or dead) takes this team the highest? Who would be the perfect fit? So far all I've seen is 'so and so is doing wonders at X', yeah, nah, I'm over Mr. Popular. Needs to fit this squad, because we aren't getting a new one any time soon. So who?

Let's face it, no one knows.

EDIT: To put it another way, after Poch, Jose, Nuno and Conte and now Ange, it's fair to say that operation 'Scapegoat' has been a success. Maybe...maybee.. it's not (just) the manager?

It's a legacy habit from decades of there being no CL qualification and it being dominated by CL failures. It was never glamorous after the rise of the Champions league in the 90's.
It really was more of a curse than a gift. It left us in a cycle of it hurting our league form and the league demands preventing us from actually challenging to win it. Outcome was always missing out on the bigger prize of CL football AND not even winning the "ropey league" to take any solace from. And the reward would only have been the same burden the next season. the money us still poor as well. So much so that I doubt Levy would see a 16th place finish as success even if we won it.

Current estimate is £14m for finishing 16th.
2 places up to 14th would be almost £6m more.
How much Premier League prize money will each team get?

The Europa League pays out
£3.6m for group/league stage qualification
£1.5m for R16 success
£2.1m for 1/4 final
£3.5m for a semi win
£5m for winning the final .
I make that around £16m IF we win it.
It's currently £8.5m

Just a top 10 finish in the PL is worth more. Top 4 gets Champions League football, a lot more PL money and CL money next season.
It's not hard to see why this is the preferred route for pretty much ALL premier league teams into the CL, rather than a bottom 6 league finish and trying to win a cup.

The English PL is kind of unique, too, in that there are 2 domestic cups, and strength in the league itself not allowing a team with upper league aspirations to rest.
Look at PSG for example. They've already won the league. They can now focus solely on training for the CL games.
Wouldn't you rather say we've already won the PL, or qualified for next seasons CL or even the ropey league again and for that reason, we can now focus on the Europa League. You know, rather than "we can't go down now, so we can lose more games than we've ever lost before in maybe, with a bit of luck, we might win the Europa league" ?
Levy is criticised for chasing the money, fans should want the Glory of winning a major trophy.
We have not won the top league division since 1961 and never won the CL. We were awful the yea\r we got to the CL final although not as bad as this season. The Europa Cup & Domestic cups are within our capabilities but we are not winning them. Once we have won them we can move on to the bigger trophies.
The very top players would not come to us at present whoever was the owner and whatever wages we offered. We need to earn that respect. Newcastle have Isaac but he cost about £60m the same as Solanke. Get CL after winning the League Cup and they may be able to attract better players.
Win the Europa and qualify for CL will attract a better Manager than if we fail.

Fans don't want what people IN football want though.
And that includes players. Some of us might be happy finishing 16th and winning the Europa League, but as we're seeing with Romero, that ain't enough for players.
It's fickle, but a club like United could use winning the Europa league as a carrot to attract decent players. I don't think we can.

Forest have done incredibly well to be where they are, but the style of play works against teams who want to attack. You saw Everton match them up in their set up, and Everton beat them as they couldn't break the low block.

It works now, but those kind of systems always get worked out. It's inevitable.

All "systems" eventually get worked out.

I could stand our system getting worked out if we were in third place, and qualifying for next seasons CL after thirty three games, not after twelve.
