Most of us knew that was complete bollox. Contes first 7 months were nothing short of sensational, we won game after game in the league, caught the bottle job Gooners to finish 4th and were absolutely dusting teams in the process.

Spanked Villa/Newcastle/Leeds/Everton and Woolwich like they were nothing.

Went to Norwich on the final day needing a result - all the bottle job spurs jokes and jibes. Blew the canaries to pieces, 5-0 and didn’t hear a peep from those faaacks all summer.

Lasted up until about October the following year - it was that 4-3 win over Leeds that seemed to break people and down hill from there. I remember people moaning after we had beaten Palace 4-0 away in early Jan and knew that night it was a matter of time.

We’re more attacking under Ange but he has not done anything close to that first part season Conte had yet.
Just a bunch of Chelsea haters who were waiting for something to use their stick to beat him with.
They all totally ignore all of the unique situations that led to it going belly up too. All the blame is 100% at his door with them. Got nothing to do with death and illness, a contract issue, strange transfers, a mid season WC and other issues. Just "Conte's fault"

We're not really struggling to break down the low block as much as we did last year. We're much better at it, as can be evidenced by our xG across these first 3 games where we played teams that literally camped in their penalty box. Just rewatch the games.
Not interested in xG. Only interested in goals.

Top players take half chances. We have some players who can barely take tap ins.

Under Jose we were dog shit every single game, even his two big wins at Man U away and Southampton away had a high degree of luck to them and we absolutely didn't control either of the games.

Under Conte I thought we were bloody excellent post-Burnley game all the way to the end of the season (in his first season) but were absolutely shit for the entirety of his 2nd season.

yep Conte was a disaster after the new bounce feel good ended. thought i'd check out the stats from the game that killed him as i dont recall it, was surprised to see it favour Southampton so much

outperformed by Southampton by all metrics but we found ourselves 2 goals up due to Kane and Persic strikes in the second half. followed by conceding two in the last 15 minutes to make it a draw

this is the big change in team style less that 2 years later, maybe only 3 teams could outwork us like this at their own ground now. and certainly not the likes of Southampton.
It's a big and sudden squad change, mentality, and tactically a change

If we are close to breaking out.......

I really hope it's the next game we break out. A win against that lot would make this a goodish start to the season.

A Solanke hat trick would be nice

It's a big and sudden squad change, and tactically change

We were in total control and 1-3 up.
Most of those stats occurred after they got back in the game.
And we were seconds away from seeing it out only for a soft penalty to be conceded.
Teams often play their best football when they're desperate for a goal. So much so I've often questioned why they don't just play like that all the damn time.

And look at the state of the team.

Forster in goal.
Lenglet and Dier with Romero
Davies on the left wing. PEH and Skipp in the middle.
We tried to play Richarlison AND Kane but Richie goes off injured early.

International football outside of the big tournaments is dogshit

Are you not excited for the glory and drama of the nations league!!!!!

Think some are getting carried away with this possession stuff at Newcastle.
Yes we had a lot of the ball especially second half, but I think teams are letting us have it because, we can't do anything with it.
Teams will sit deeper knowing that, spurs are not going to hurt you, and then one simple ball through, or over the top and you are guaranteed a goal against Tottenham it's easy.

No team wants to give another team the chance to play football in their box. The idea that they're gambling that we simply fail to score is ridiculous. We penetrated their box because they couldn't stop us from doing so.

Mate we barely gave their keeper anything to do.
Totally flacid front line, no danger to anyone, and with ease we continue to be undone like last year.
The writing was on the wall in the pre season friendly against BM, that showed very little had been improved.

Sounds like a great tactical setup, "give Spurs the ball in our box and hope they don't bother our keeper", I'm sure that's more or less what Howe told them.

I don't know what was said and neither do you.
What I do know is, that football is a results orientated business, if you can't get them then your gone and in comes someone who can.
No good passing the ball around, trying to create chances that lead to nothing, and having a weak back four.
Get it sorted or get someone who can.

Honestly Richy joined us that long ago? I really feel like he's only joined us recently. Damn, how unfit was he to play so few games for us that I have that impression.
Signed 22/23 but was never gonna get loads of minutes as we still had Kane.
Then he found himself getting booked for celebrating goals more than getting goals.
Then when Kane left, he had loads of problems.

We've never really seen him tbf to him. Not for a prolonged run of games he starts in and is at his best fitness and form wise.
