Wanyama was linked a return to Parkhead in January but the club tied up a £2million deal for Ismaila Soro from Israel side Bnei Yehuda.

The 29-year-old Kenyan was denied a late loan switch to Ligue 1 side Amiens on transfer deadline day and has remained in London.

He has now, however, qualified for UK citizenship and brother Harry Wanyama insists all will be revealed in "two or three days".

He told People Daily: “It’s a normal thing for a footballer to get British citizenship after playing or staying in the country for at least five years. Victor’s agent Ivan Modia will announce whether he will be leaving Spurs or not and which club. He is to make the announcement in two or three days.”

Wanyama is yet to play under Mourinho and was cut from Spurs' Champions League squad following the Portuguese coach's arrival.

He last featured for the club in a 7-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the group stage, appearing for just 12 minutes.

Hmmmmmm.....

So are we to conclude that he'd dragged his heels over a move to secure a visa?

He joined Celtic in 2011, so has had plenty of time to qualify for a UK visa (thought it was 5 years) if he had chosen, unless numerous visits out of UK meant he missed out on some rules about continued residency here.

But he's made enough money to get in on some sort of golden/investor visa if he chose I'm sure

Okay, so this one is finalized now. Good!

I think all parties win from this deal in the end.
Sad that injury ruined him for us. Really liked the lad when he was on top of his game.

Thanks and good luck!

He was outstanding before being plagued by injury. A player like prime Vic would have been just what we needed this season.

Oh, well... good luck to the lad. Hope he makes the most out of the rest of his career.

Brutal.... :mourcry:

Had numerous chances to leave - including a very good one to Club Bruges for £12m and £65k (£3m+ pa) pw almost agreed with his former team mate and manager there last summer which would have given us cash and a spare 'overseas trained' place, we've paid him £6m - £9m for not playing over the last few years so wouldn't have been an unreasonable exit for him
