Don't agree with one point you make.
When Woolwich were all over the place they were still finishing 8th and winning the FA Cup. It never looked this bad.
Vinai is adamant about spending money on players... really... £1m net spend in Jan... as good an impression of Levy as there is. The messaging is the same as always and frankly I'd rather they shut the fuck up and do something to stop the rot. Actions speak louder than words.
That's alright - we don't have to agree. But I would like to elaborate.
My point is that a lot in here want to complain because they believe a bad period changes in the space of half a season. You have zero patience for a new CEO or a new manager - jeez, at least give them a couple of windows to form their team. But no, you lot are all over the place wanting to sack the manager, that we need to spend, that our wage structure is outdated, that we don't recruit correctly, that we don't use youngsters, and I could go on.
I get that when you have heard the same corporate stuff from Levy over the past 20 years, you get tired of it when it's not followed up by actions. BUT there are two points to be made here:
1. Levy DID progress Tottenham from being a mid-table team to a top 6 team. So saying "We have heard this bullshit so many times, but nothing happens" is just plain out wrong. I will concede that over the last few years, Levy didn't develop the team and he wasn't following up his talk with actions. But I also believe that's why Vinai was hired; the owners didn't see the progress that Levy promised, so now they're trying something new, which leads me to my second point.
2. This message comes from a NEW CEO. This is not Levy repeating himself. And I choose to give Vinai at least some time to make his impact - just as I choose to give Frank my backing for at least the rest of the season (maybe even the beginning of next season too).
However, I do agree with you that words haven't been followed up in the past. With Levy, it didn't happen in the end and I guess that's why so many of you react with delirious anger whenever management is trying to communicate. I believe it's different with Vinai. He even states he understands there is a disconnect between the fan base and the club right now - and that he wants to rectify it. Taking into consideration that Vinai is new at the club, don't we owe him the benefit of the doubt? At least I'm not gonna cry about it until there's proof that he only talks.
And to comment on your point about Woolwich dropping around 8th place: That can be due to a lot of things. Maybe even that Woolwich was at a better place than we are right now - but at least changes are happening behind the scenes. Also, Woolwich won the FA Cup, yes. But we also won the Europa League. That doesn't mean that everything is good, neither for us now or for Woolwich at that time.
