The Mexican league is quite good and very well supported (only the PL, Bundesliga and La Liga draw more fans anywhere in the world). Obviously a bunch of Mexican international players play in the league, but also quite a lot of South Americans (Peru, Colombia, Uruguay, Venezuela, etc).

There's a lot of money in Mexican football, maybe he finds he enjoys the tacos and the paychecks and there's no shame in playing in that league in front of big, crazy crowds.
Long time now post

Their stadium is pretty bad ass to be fair.

I think only us, Man U and the Dippers have bigger stadiums in the Prem.

Not too shabby.

I wonder if it was the refusal to go on loan to Brighton that caused him to be on the shit list.

Good luck to him.
No, it was his inability to perform his job as a striker to the required level that landed him on the shit list.

Not that I hold anything against the lad. As far as I can see he did nothing wrong except fail to score enough goals. I wish him all the luck in the world. Seems like a thoroughly decent bloke.

He was a bit shit, but he tried hard in the few games he played for us and that is all you can ask for so good luck to him.

Good to get him out and every little helps in raising funds for new players!

Janssen is just another example of a “budget” player who wasted not only our time but his time too, and wasted a little cash along the way also.....
Don’t know the actual cost of these type of transfers but I’d guess over the years we have spent a small fortune on them...

Anyhow, good luck and seriously hope it works out.

'Budget' player or also a trivia question player for in three years time when we can't remember him and we are trying to remember the names of Njie, Stambouli, Nkoudou and Janssen.

Thus ends one the most underwhelming and strangest transfer sagas

I totally disagree.
I'd say that if you put together N'ije and N'Koudou you'll get -
- more money paid
- less influence and output
- more wage money written off
- much less promise/hopes to start from - I mean it still baffles me that he has scored 7 goals in 17 games for NETHERLANDS senior squad (!!) - both of the N'guys have absolutely nothing to put against this fact

I mean, yea, his move to Spurs unfortunately did not work out. I was cheering for him to be a success with us (heck, I even saw the rare sight of him scoring EPL goal from open play against Bournemouth back on old White Hart lane!!) but unfortunately it was not meant to be.

I do not believe this "if he scored vs Everton" thing for a sec, unfortunately it was already written in the stars before that. Only "what if's" I am thinking about is what if there would have been different expectations for him - he came on as Eredivise hitman and top scorer. But at the beginning at least his hold-up play was really good. And with this he helped other players to have good opportunities.

But well - Best of luck for the future, Vinny!

Easily could've been our Van Nistelrooy if we had supported him properly.
He has some blame, there were issues with work ethic and fitness, allegedly. I thought he’d make it but it didn’t work out. Hope he turns it around, he’s playing for one of the best clubs in Liga MX.
