So how did te argentine league put club before country then .??
Next to none of their players play in Argentina, and there is no chance that any of the clubs in England, Italy, Germany, Spain or France will be trying to help the argentine national team...so I think that's a ridiculous argument...I would say our manager is not good enough and the players not ruthless enough...e.g gutless
The best players in Argentina leave and come to Europe so the clubs there need to keep on producing young players and give them a chance. Until they are good enough to catch the eye of European clubs and so the cycle continues.
The French league isn't that strong BUT when it comes to producing young talent, it's the best league in Europe.
English clubs have all the money so go for the easy option which is some French or Spanish or Argentinian 20-something rather then look at their own academy or even lower leagues. Bellingham was playing the Championship with Birmingham when he was signed by Dortmund, why weren't more PL clubs all over him? Because he's English, that's why.
Blaming the manager is the English way, admitting our entire set-up is at fault (including having too many professional clubs which encourages mediocrity) causes too many headaches and too hard to solve. Swap Scaloni or Deschamps for Southgate and I sincerely doubt we'd have achieved any more this WC and past two tournaments.
It's over now, the PL circus is back next week and then it's the January transfer window and nobody will care about international football until the next big tournament.
