Utter shit today. Looks way too small. Not quick enough to get by the big ones not strong enough to duel with the more rangy ones.

His off ball work is commendable but he hasn’t got the “take the game by the scruff of the neck” we need. Disappears far too easily. Doesn’t carry a goal threat from what I can see.

I know he has talent but it all looks a bit Wirtz doesn’t it. For fucks sake. Maddison, I’m sorry for ever doubting you mate. Special player.

He seems a bit shot-shy and lightweight. I really hope we haven't got an expensive dud on our hands. Early days, but I expected to see a lot more given the price tag and all the hype from people more familar with him than me.

Clearly struggling to adapt to the Premier League pace and physicality.

You don’t become a shit player overnight, but you sometimes aren’t suited to a league and its style.

Hopefully he adapts and settles soon.

Yea he looks like he can't quite believe how fast all the defenders are here. It's the prem and there is almost no free time on the ball- you take the first time pass or you cough up possession thinking you had time to take one cute touch. Villa's midfield dominated us today, and Xavi was someone who looked particularly stifled by them.

The pace and physicallity of the premier league has really surprised him I think.

He's obviously a talented lad but you have to compete and hold your own in order to stamp your authority on the game in that key area of the pitch.

Still early days and Frank either takes him out for a spell on the bench to give him a breather or he perseveres.

Everton away next will be a very difficult game for him. I'd be tempted to play Sarr or Bergvall instead and ease him back in to help his confidence.

We shouldn’t rush to quick judgements, time needed to adapt and blend in and all that etc etc.

Having got all those cliches out of the way, I’ve always found you can seize up a player very quickly inside a few games and my first instincts in nearly all cases have never been too far off.

I knew nothing about him before he came here. What I’ve seen so far has been hugely disappointing. He doesn’t look to have anything about him that you need to prosper in the English Premier League and I’m very fearful already that we have yet another expensive dud on our hands.

He's had a better start than trillion dollar Wirtz.

Give him time to gear his game up.

Would help if he had more to work with to the left and in front of him.

Solanke would give him something to aim at. Sarr or Bergvall would give him someone to combine with. A true LW would help keep the defense stretched left-wards and give him more space to cut in on his right (his obvious preferred move). No doubt he has few truly quality options to work with right now. He's also a young player who is stepping up to a higher level and is showing inconsistency.

People said the same thing about Modric.

It's easy to mark players out of a game, when you only gave 2 good players going forward.

But yeah, Spurs writing players off again, without looking at the whole picture.

I expect more consistency with those gaps filled in around him.

Think it's a big part of the reason why it's not clicking for him and he hasn't yet found his rhythm.
