Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I just hope it’s a case of taking time to adjust to the pace and physicality of the premier league and we haven’t bought another overhyped youngster (which our recruitment team seems to have a blind spot for).

He worked so hard to today and put in a shift but it’s the creative side we need more of. Good players like him need good players around him. We don’t have enough clever players. We are so workmanlike it’s tough to watch.

Clearly struggling to adapt to the Premier League pace and physicality.

You don’t become a shit player overnight, but you sometimes aren’t suited to a league and its style.

Hopefully he adapts and settles soon.

"Hopefully" he can rip it up in the CL whilst he adapts......

Afterall, I was assured that the Bundesliga thing was a non-issue cos he is CL quality.

People seem to have the wrong idea about what type of player he is, I don't want to cast negative aspersions on the guy this early in his Spurs career but I do think people need to simmer down the expectations.

Impossible to judge a #10 when they receive ZERO passes in the areas that #10's operate.
Great 10s create space in which to receive passes, even from average tekkers like Bentancur & Palhinha.

Great 10s drop deeper to get the ball if need be...and run at the defence, bag of tricks at the ready.

Simons just stayed put between the lines, too close to Tel. Or moved to the left but ended up cockblocking Djed & Odobert.

Was great at PSV and Leipzig, but so far he's been atrocious here.

I don't want to go in on him but he has been underwhelming.

Maddison could have done better than that today and I want better than that tbh.

Spurs are shit and it looks like a long term fix.

It's possible he needs better attackers to play alongside, but for now it's about seeing if Simons is good enough, and then if he is able to adapt to the demand.

Like so many players from overseas, the better way is for them to be eased in.

I saw him in spaces but no pass came.

I don't know why he wasn't dropping deep today. Looked like an instruction because he did it at Leeds and the play wth Udogie and Odobert actually looked good.

Wasn't cockblocking Odobert when Udogie was there though...

Why are you always so extra?

The Kulusevski conjecture:
The player is always said to be better played in the position they're not currently playing in.

Arguably Spurs best current player and he's been as good as a player we binned off to WBA.

This team will continue to let us down in my opinion.
