In all seriousness, yes he’s really struggling right now, but we’ve got to back him. He needs game time and basically has to figure out if he can handle the PL. Looks really low in confidence and lacking any kind of spark. Copenhagen and Slavia Prague are key opportunities for him as in they’re pretty mediocre European teams.

My worry at the moment is he can’t do the simple things right . The 5 yard threaded ball always over or under hit, that long ball out wide in the first half , it’s a simple ball and he completely messed it up . Whatever confidence he may have had is draining away .

How many games can you afford to give him though?

Well… in part, he’s lucky that we have the injuries we do as he simply has to play. But to properly judge a player coming into the PL from abroad, I’d give him the season. It’s been mentioned elsewhere but we’ve had very decent players before who’ve taken time to settle in, Sonny being the most obvious recent one.

But does he have to start? Best we've been this season is with Sarr as the 10 early on and we could have Odobert/Tel on the left. Would love it to suddenly click for him but at the moment it feels detrimental to keep him in. Would he be better getting cameos off the bench?

He has talent but needs passers around him. He’s no Madders, that’s for sure, but I still believe in him. Loved the dual 10s set up

My major conern with him is his physicality or lack of it.

Compare him with Newcastle's signing who always look tailor made for PL football, and are big and powerful runners.

Xavi looks terribly lightweight, weak, slow, no acceleration. It's really concerning he might be another dutch player who hasn't got the physique for PL football.

Make no mistake, if Xavi flops we really are fucked.

Needs to make his decision quicker and not take that extra touch.

I still think he will get better in time.

Any player who wants the ball is always a good sign for me.
