Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Best option is doubling down on Xavi.

If you were alluding to Madz here; the yeh.... But relegating Xavi for Kulu as #10? Meh.

Not in his current form it isn't, if Xavi continues like this then he's gonna find himself on the bench...for Kulu.

Can't have a player struggling to do the very basics playing in such an impotent area of the pitch.

I was hoping he would have a van der Vaart type impact. Scored on his home debut, scored on his Champions League debut and of course a goal and two assists at the Emirates when we came from 2-0 down to win 3-2. It can't be underestimated how an early goal helps. I hope there is a player in there, but it is looking increasingly like we've had our pants pulled down again. We are all moaning that our 300m forward line is shite but we want the same guys to go out and spend another 300m on a new forward line. When that one is shite, then what? The sad reality is that we aren't going to spend big in January and I think next summer will be a cost neutral exercise. There will be a need to move players on to accommodate anyone new.

Same as son, came from Germany off the back of 11 goals 3 assists. Xavi comes off the back of 10 goals 7 assists. Son Only managed 4 goals all season when he moved here at similar age.

It's a dice role, hopefully it pays off in the same way as son, and not in a timo werner

We see it with Kane and his goal return.

His ability to find space hasn’t improved due to his physical attributes. He’s just used to playing at a higher tempo constantly and making much quicker decisions.

That extra 1/2 - 1 second he gets probably feels like the game is in slow motion sometimes. It’s the opposite for guys coming to this league.

The players - as Craig Bellamy put it - are now like cyborgs! Crazy levels of fitness required.

Sonny looks like he is playing in a league now that’s about 3 seconds slower!!
More like the Metal Mickey league than cyborgs.

Start him on the left until he picks up some form. That position where the alternative are two players that offer very little so starting him there doesn't really hurt us and the upside if he starts playing well is massive.

Give Sarr a run in the position where he was tearing it up. Against Chavski i think he can be the difference.

I think the answer is - u have to go and get the number 1 targets . We’ve been linked with the likes of Semenyo, Pedro neto ( last season ) , Eze , MGW and didn’t get any of them . I guarantee Liverpool, scum , Chelsea have all got their number 1 targets this summer and Xavi probably wasn’t in the conversations until we lost out on Eze .

He has no confidence atm....and as I have said before, he needs to bulk up...looks like the 7 stone weakling from the old Charles Atlas adverts...but still very talented..

Liverpool and Chavski all got their number one targets...

and are currently both below us.

Like I said in the Everton match thread we should have signed Grealish as well as Simons. This would have taken some of the pressure off a 22 year old who is new to the league and would inevitably be compared to Eze.

That was an open goal and we missed.

Didn't want to leave the North of England, he just bought a house with his mrs in Manchester and thus decided to go to Everton

No matter how many times people say this it doesn't distort from the truth, Grealish was never on in the first place.

Quoting Agbonlahor from Talksport:
"Simmons again poor"
"He is so weak"
"He spend the whole game on the floor"
"He wants to play #10, he plays #10, doesn't perform"
"On the left, can't take a player on"
"Too weak"
"Doesn't create enough"

Always appreciate honest, Non-PC opinions.

Stop tapping on the man's shoulder (YES, he is 22,he is a man, not a boy). He wants to take his craft as a professional footballer, he needs to deliver no matter what stage or country he is in. That's what being a professional all about.

Drop him for a few games please. Put Sarr or Berg in. Then try again, if nothing comes out, SELL please. Admit the mistake that good ol' Levy gave us and ship out.

Finding new ways to pile pressure on Xavi isn't gonna help, is it?

Oh nwo, that would be truly awful. Not putting pressure on the 200k a week 60 million pound footballer. Whatever next.

Honestly some of you talk about players like they’re fragile children who should be getting participation medals.

If they’re shit they get criticised and pressurised, if they’re good they get praised for it. That simple. They’re doing their insanely well paid job, not charity work.

I feel you just have to play him into form, a lot of that is harsh but true but there are glimpses there where you can see something - I think he just needs to play and play himself into some sort of form.
