Transfers Summer 2018 transfer window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Many, many people claim that signings need to be done early, so they can have a pre season and train with the team. They say its paramount, and get all pissy when we sign players in late August.
The same people then go ballistic for January signings, and claim this player and that player are a must to achieve our targets come May.

Suddenly the need for a pre season has zero importance and a new player can suddenly hit the deck running and propel us to glory in 4 months.

Poch didnt forget about Moura, he simply chose not to throw him under the bus. Yet people are still clambering around for a new AM. If we hadnt signed him in January, they'd be shitting it now that Liverpool might sign him.

Now we have him, they want Zaha.

I'm all for considering Moura to have that spot. Seemed to me that he merited more minutes than he got this season, and surely an offseason of training with the squad will do him well.

I would imagine due to age and length of contract that should enquiries come in for Sanchez or Alli they would be in and around that figure if not higher.

We'd price them at that figure. Whether any team would pay that for those two, I'm not sure.

Whereas I think clubs would be willing to pay premium for Kane and Eriksen.

Bang on. Gold seems like a really decent bloke and is a proper Spurs fan, but with regard transfer ITK I genuinely think he's clueless. Everything he reports is just common sense most of the time.
Gold's reports mainly come from conversations with Poch that he has during the press conferences. So his word is literally what Poch/the club wants us to hear.

Make of that what you will

He's a reporter not ITK. He'll never be the first to break a story, but he usually has the most reliable information.

He was the one that first broke the de Ligt interest.

Think it was shown he wasent quite up to pace last season when we first signed him. He destroyed Rochdale then looked lost against Huddersfield I think it was. As the season grew you could see he was getting better and better and I expect him to displace Son in our starting lineup if I’m honest.

That is a massive ask! I would rather us play 4 3 3 with son and Moura as wide forwards.

Spending 50m on one player to get starts here and there is not something I think we'll do.

If we commit that kind of money they'd need to be a first team regular.

If we want to win the PL, it's something we are going to have to do. In fact it's the main reason that we have failed at the final hurdle over the past couple or three seasons.

Though we have improved our bench, and squad depth in general we ain't close to having strength in depth as the earlier rounds of the FA Cup showed quite clearly.

I watched the first 35 minutes, Pulisic was rank. I counted 10 interventions (I probably missed a few short passes but these were the ones where he passed more than 4 yards or ran with the ball). One 5 yd pass found a team mate, eight times he either mishit the pass or, more commonly lost the ball, and the remaining one time he kicked it straight out of play when taking a corner.

He may have improved but the game was such utter shit I went to bed

He was playing in a very young side, managed by an interim coach, in a new system, at the end of a very long season, coming from a very competitive league, after two days travel from Europe.

Digging any player out in a friendly is armchair fan 101, and i have seen plenty of Spurs and England friendlies where our players play poorly, but i don't see you in here berating them?

I'd love to see the kid come to Spurs, he is recognised as one of the best European midfield prospects, but no doubt you have set in your armchair, remote in hand, rewinding and fast forwarding to form a critique on a player that you have never actually seen for more than an hour playing in a meaningless friendly.

Apparently Milan Badelj, the Fiorentina defensive midfielder and club captain has broken his contract with the Italian club.

Solid defensive midfielder with good ball control and good passing skills. Worth a punt perhaps

Looked it up some and according to a English Fiorentina fansite it was just a matter of his deal expiring.

Apparently we have been linked with him in the past as well.

1) Don't really care for defensive midfielder that much. We are quite sorted with Wanyama and Dier. DLP/creative CM is what we need in my view.
2) Yes, indeed we were linked with him in the past. I remember it when he was still young and promising kid from Dinamo Zagreb, labelled as "Next Modric" ... this was like 6 years ago... rly makes you feel old, doesnt it :D

Only issue with that is it means we have to play Moussa as a DM destroyer type player wasting his best attributes. And said it before on this forum but Son is a hit and miss player he’s either unplayable or dogshit, no in between. If he’s on form then he will have to play but having Moura at least means we don’t have to play him when he’s off form.

I really hope we give 4-3-3 a try. Dele and Eriksen both being able to orchestrate the attack from the middle of the field would be deadly. Lamela and Winks as their backups isn’t bad either. Adding one more player there would be nice. In this scenario Dier would be our current DM. I think that’s where the upgrade needs to be made.

In how many transfer windows in a row have you been writing this absolute drivel? In the same amount of transfer windows, you've been told that there's SOMETHING IN BETWEEN.

Yes, signings are best done early.
No, that doesn't mean we shouldn't sign anyone at all if we need it, simply because we can't get them in early. A late signing might also strengthen us.
So yes, indeed it makes sense to both 1) "whine" about late signings, 2) want late signings. That is, if the alternative is NO signings. It's so fucking simple, jeeeesus.

Year after year, you SERIOUSLY argue that it isn't an advantage if new players have a pre season with their new team mates and the coaching team. You are either 1) incredibly stupid, or 2) so much in desperate need of attention and arguments, that you repeat the same nonsense points.

: ostrich:

Sorry mate but I doubt moose will be here next season. I hope he signs and stays but I have a niggling feeling he's tired and wants to see out his career in a less competitive league.

Either way dier/wanyama would be the go to defensive destroyer and yes I think we should look to strengthen there.

I also have a feeling that it will be this crop of players they we currently have that will be the ones to take us to glory, and that it will be about them improving on their current form.

If we get that yank pulisic or martial I think it will be the added pressure that makes son and moura take it up a notch rather then the new signings actually replacing them. . .

That is unless we sign bale, then they might aswell just give us the premier league now :allitongue:
