I just don't see it with Georgiou, what am I missing?

For me, his pace and hunger to get up and down wing. His ridiculously high work rate and willingness to track back. His trickery like Walker-Peters at getting out of dangerous situations. I just feel as if he fits so perfectly into the first team as a wingback. Just like Rose.

I see JNeil Bennett was working with a fitness instructor during the summer. That shows a bloody good work ethic. The boy will go far I reckon.

Skipp and Amos back with the U23s today.

Excited once again to see Parrott for the U23s.

Interesting that Onomah is also there and playing.

Maybe Poch is relaxing his rule that when the youngsters are training with the first team they can't play in the u23's - which would be good as they need to show in games the benefit of Poch's coaching and they are never going to get enough first team minutes so makes absolute sense for them to play in a few u23 games. Not all u23 games as that would stifle development of the youngster players.

Surprisingly strong line up on paper.

Good to see Harrison back again - he seemed to have fallen out of favour last season.

Equally good to see Ogilvie and Oakley-Boothe back from injury - think both could do a job against lower league opposition in the domestic cups, and then who knows (even though Ogilvie has never seemed to be in Poch's plans)

Maybe a surprise that Brandon Austin is not in the squad - injured still ? But Whiteman and De Bie seem to be good GK's anyway. I'd hope that next season one of them is considered good enough to take the no 3 GK spot (which would help resolve the too many overseas trained players in the first team squad problem).

And the more minutes Parrott gets in the u23's this season, I think the better providing he can handle it (as he's almost leapt from u16's to u23's with only a hand full of u18 games), as he seems to have huge potential.

Perhaps a surprise the game ended as a 1-1 draw, but I'm sure DerryLennon DerryLennon can explain that

A 2-0 win over Chelsea (and almost 3-0 as a goal was disallowed) is a great result - Chelsea has dominated at this level for the last few years, so any points against them are valuable - and 3 points very rare.

OS :
9 - GOAL! A deserved lead after controlling the early stages, Bennett sending Maghoma through to round the keeper and slot in.

72 - GOAL! After a great flying save from Oluwayemi to deny Lewis, we double our lead through Shashoua after good work from Bennett and Patterson.

Did you get hold of the team sheet? They'd run out of them by the time I asked for one.
I got up quite late so I arrived there about 11.20 am. I came across the u18 development squad game on one
of the outer pitches thinking it was the main U18 game. That team was losing 4-0 to a superior Chelsea side
by half time and the less said about them the better.
Anyway, I watched the 2nd half of the main game and no one really stood out to be honest. The blond left back was okay and Binks at number 6 was okay as well. Question marks over their pace though.
Chelsea have a deeper pool of talent at this age group. No surprise there.

There was an u18/20 game at Hotspur way today Tanganga Dinzeyi , Duncan , Roles , Freeman all involved . I believe Jack Roles scored 3 and Freeman did well . What’s the deal with Roles?
Shaushoa apparently is out of favour and has opted for a loan deal . If we are not careful we will also loose Roles . That’s 2 quality players we are not handling properly , and continuing with dead wood players instead

Aaron Connolly tussles for the ball against Tottenham Hotspur.

  • Albion’s under-23s draw 1-1 against Tottenham Hotspur
  • Viktor Gyokeres breaks the deadlock in the first half
  • Shayon Harrison replies for Spurs after the break
  • The Seagulls host Manchester City next Friday
Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-23s continued their unbeaten start to the Premier League 2 Division 1 season with hard-earned 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at the Lamex Stadium.

Viktor Gyokeres fired Albion into a 1-0 lead shortly before the break, but Shayon Harrison levelled for the hosts in the second half to secure a share of the spoils, as the Seagulls drew their third game in a row.

After a cagey opening to the match, Will Collar drove forward and tried his luck from 25 yards, but the midfielder’s ambitious effort was blocked by Connor Ogilvie, as the Spurs defender flung himself in front of the shot.

Marcus Edwards then went down the other end and fashioned a shot of his own, as he cut inside off the right wing and fired towards the bottom corner, but Hugo Keto made a comfortable stop to his left-hand side.

Aaron Connolly came close to connecting with Anders Dreyer’s inviting cross from the right flank, but Spurs shot-stopper Alfie Whiteman beat the Irishman to the front post and rescued his team-mates.

Josh Kerr and Haydon Roberts were then called into action with crucial blocks inside Albion’s penalty area, with the latter throwing himself in front of Josh Onomah’s fierce drive.

From the 16-year-old’s block, Albion broke forward and Connolly came inside onto his right foot, but the striker’s curling effort dropped just wide of the target, as the Seagulls looked to capitalise on one of their few opportunities.

The Seagulls were then forced into a change when Owen Moore went down injured - Archie Davies came on to replace the full-back, and just five minutes later, in the 41st minute, Rusk’s team found themselves in front.

Mathias Normann showed excellent composure inside Albion’s penalty area and picked out Connolly with a searching pass, and with two Spurs defenders applying pressure, the Irishman found Gyokeres in space and the Swedish striker lashed home to break the deadlock.

The teams returned for the second half and Connolly almost doubled Albion’s advantage from close range, but the striker’s angled effort found the side-netting after Dreyer slid the ball through.

Josh Onomah struck the woodwork soon after, as the Spurs striker curled a free-kick towards goal and clipped the crossbar - but the hosts found their breakthrough in the 59th minute after a sustained period of pressure.

Harrison picked up the ball on the left wing and drove inside to create an angle to shoot, and the Spurs winger picked out the far corner with a well-executed effort from just inside the penalty area.

Jordan Davies was introduced in the 72nd minute and the winger was inches away from putting the Seagulls back in front after latching onto a loose ball, but his ferocious, deflected drive sailed over the crossbar.

Dreyer and Collar then had chances in quick succession to make it 2-1, but the Dane’s close-range volley flew just wide, before the latter’s effort deflected straight into the hands of Whiteman.

It was almost a cruel finish for Rusk’s team in the 90th minute, as Jack Roles dragged his shot inches wide of the target, but the Seagulls held on for a third hard-earned point of the season.

ALBION: Keto; Moore (A.Davies 36), Kerr, Roberts, Cochrane; Collar, Normann; Dreyer, Gyokeres, Tilley (J.Davies 72); Connolly (Ljubicic 90+2).

Subs not used: Collings (GK), Tomlinson.
