Match Unstoppable force (Watford) vs Immovable object (Spurs) Sunday 2 September

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

They are nothing but a lanky team of cloggers who’s only chance of scoring is set pieces, so what do we do? We gift them 2 free headers at set pieces.
Not having Hugo cost us as Vorm was rooted. We got what we deserved.

Just shows the lack of transfer activity will come back to haunt us. The squad is not deep enough and there are no alternatives to cater for injury, suspension, OR loss of form. I've been saying this from before the World Cup

Dele, Kane, Eriksen, and to a lesser extent Dembele, despite their abject performances today, are undroppable, and there are no alternatives.

Llorente(!), Winks, Sissoko (give me a break), Dier, Wanyama (perpetually injured), Llamela (!). You then get down to Amos and Tripp who wont be risked in the PL. There isn't a game changer in that list.

To challenge, these are the games we need to win.

Oh well, move on. The break will get it out of our system. LiverpooI I think!

Pardon me for interrupting your mini-tantrum, but Sonny & Lucas think you're a disingenuous arse for not mentioning them.

As game changer, Lamela has changed 2 of 4 games this season alone. Winks provided a spark, albeit too little too late, today.

We lost, get over it; it's not justification to throw the bulk of the squad under the bus.

The reality is its these games that prevent our silverware quests much more than glamour times against goons, United, chavs, dippers. The Watfords of the world are what trip us up.
Man city dropped points against Everton, Palace and Burnley last season. The greatest premier league team ever dropped points against mediocre opposition. All teams do it. Teams that win the title do it.
Our 2015/16 title run was hurt much more by the fact we only won 3 games against the top 6 + leicester.
Our 2016/17 title run had 4 losses, only one of which came against a 'lower table' club.
If anything, those runs were built on our ability to turn premier league fodder into points.
The details don't matter that much though.
What matters is that you are doing the worst thing possible when we lose: blowing it out of proportion and letting it confirm whatever 'curse' you imagine spurs have.

Two DM Dier and wanyama both on the bench and unused when the tide in the game changed on his head. If not before the first goal...then straight after was the time to do it. One or both needed to come on. Dembele's legs had gone and our wing backs were obviously pushing forward as they were told to do. Alli doesn't really defend so we had fuck all help in defence

After 4 games of two up top, and despite Lucas’s active nature, I am not liking the 2 at the top. That extra runner from midfield opens things up and I think we are negating Lucas’s strength which is running at people verse being a hold up player essentially.

Kane is best when given room to roam and with the 2 up top he isn’t getting involved as much.

That being said Watford wanted it and we had that lethargy that consistently bites us in the butt.

Poch’s Game management still needs work.

1-0 lead and Dembele looks knackered. Dele playing shite. Doesn’t make a change until we fall behind.

Then when we’re chasing the game we bring on a CM, a left back and an invisible man in Llorente. I say invisible not as a slight on him but on the team, whenever Llorente comes on we stop putting crosses in the box. They realise he’s the Spanish Crouch don’t they??

We’re seeing it already. 1 injury in CM and we’re short of bench options. 2 absences in AM and we’re short of bench options. The pundits are bang on with us, our best XI can beat anyone, our squad depth is the worse than our top 4 rivals and it shows today. Don’t give me the Son and Lamela aren’t there, we needed at least 1 AM/CM and got neither.

Back to a back 4 for Liverpool.
Dier to partner Dembele.
Son, Eriksen and Moura in behind Kane. Dele can ride the pine for a while.

Apart from the back three no one played well but I thought Eriksen and Dembele were worse than Dele

Game was crying out for Winks just after half time

I don’t know why we even bother with Llorente
Apart from fluffing one good chance he offered nothing

My thoughts:
Dele was not good enough today. Ponderous and indecisive. Drop him for Son.
Kane looks a bit off the boil but then he always does when he doesn't get good service.
Don't get some of the hate for moose. I thought the free kick that led to the first goal was hugely unfair and was a foul on him. Feel free to correct me.
We got bullied. Our players were looking for fouls that weren't called.

I love Moose but he was at fault for their second goal by ball watching
Not the player he was sadly and I said this last season

Imo to turn the tide you need a cm like winks that wants the ball and can settle the side by confidently taking the ball. We were under threat and kept holding the ball and welcoming the attack again.

Really don't understand playing 3 at the back against these teams that we know are going to sit back. We need to take the match to them. There are times I feel like we resemble a latter-day Wenger squad, expecting to win matches on possession stats alone.

Another match against mediocre opposition and another lackluster performance. Good we got a tough CL group - Poch's Spurs absolutely have a habit of playing to the level of their competition.

Three at the back had provided us with some of our most attacking sides. It’s just we don’t have Rose and Walker anymore to bring the pace.

Davies and Tripps don’t make those surging runs and have the game in front of them more often that not.
