Liverpool eased off for about 10 minutes knowing full well we were just going to keep the ball and do fuck all with it. They done well in that respect to reserve their energy.

Trippier must honestly only be playing because of his end product, which has been non existent so far. So much space for Mane, his corners have been garbage.

Dier? More like dire. Right side of a diamond? Never. You either play in a 2 in a 4-2-3-1 or you don't play at all. Sorry mate.

Kane has been garbage. Dropping deep, getting in the way, giving the ball away, trying to take players on when he has no ounce of pace.

Eriksen is so off the boil it's almost funny. The header in the build up to their goal was just fucking pathetic. Get hold of the fucking ball.

Honestly, Toby, Vertonghen and Winks are the only people in that first half who can hold their head up high. Lucas is trying though bless him.

Four players there on the bench who would significantly make a change in one way or another. Can't go on playing this shambolic formation against Liverpool.

Toby and Jan have been shocking. Toby has gone from a dominant front foot defender to someone who jockeys players and nothing else. He's been lucky Mane has been poor. Jan is all over the place. Winks has disappeared.

The rest. Moura apart, have done nothing.

It's been a truly pathetic first half.

I agree, but with the club in the position it is now in the league and in Europe Poch knows that that would cause an uproar among the supporters.

There are issues that need to be resolved and I do not envy the man having to solve them.
If solving them means new contracts, dropping a player or maybe selling a player remains to be seen. But we need a boost of motivation into the team. Hopefully it is just pre-CL behaviour. We always tend to have bad games directly connected to CL games, which is an issue of itself
 
If I was Poch, I'd be telling Rose and Trippier (Trippier especially) to just focus on defending.

Which means we need some wide men. Lamela/Son crucial.
 
Liverpool have pretty done to us, exactly what we did to them last season, they've sat deeper, waited for us to get up the pitch a bit further, set traps deeper, then squeezed us and forced us to continually cough up the ball (which with some of our fucking carelessness isn't always hard) with people piled forwards, including the FB's and with this narrow diamond they've just pounced on us in the right and particularly left channels. They've just wasted a fucking fistful of great situations and ended up getting a fucking scrappy set piece goal.

This hasn't been a swash buckling ferocious Liverpool gagen press, it's much more pragmatic. We are having plenty of ball, but Poch has once again made a real dogs dinner of the line up and tactics. Dier's had another shocking 45 minutes (to be fair to him it's Pochis partly to blame for playing him as an RM in this format), Dembele is their press trigger, every time he's on it, they swarm because they know he likes to take too many touches. Winks looks like a kid who hasn't started a game for months, and defensive diligence has never been the strong point of his game.
 
My two pence:

Decent half, that shows this mythical Liverpool super team doesnt exist. Apart from the offside goal, all their chances have come from our sloppyness, Dier, Dembele and Eriksen all needlsesly given the ball away that led to attacks, and then Vorm making a mess of it.

Kane just no. No, no, no, no no.

People, please stop advocating this "new" Kane. Its complete shit.
Eriksen again showing why he's not there yet...people can act like he's above everyone else on the pitch but its those wrong decisions that cost us.
A one on one that needed blasting goalwards, yet he cuts it back into a crowd of 5 defenders hoping to find Moura.
Then instead of trapping the ball, turning around and running towards their goal, he heads it to Mane on the edge of our box for no reason and its 1-0.

I think Liverpool are there for the taking, but Kane needs to fucking do something, and we need to stop giving the ball away. Dembele owns the pitch, yet the forwards are doing very little.

Shout out to Rose, been excellent, and Winks is really breaking up their flow and bringing the ball out well.

Son for Kane, and Im deadly serious. Obviously will never happen.
 
Liverpool weren’t all that great but that was a foolish goal to concede by Vorm and Winks has been rather quiet in midfield.
We need to shake things up.
