The problem with the US habit of abbreviating absolutely everything, for I presume speed, they unfortunatly have to then not only say the abbreviation but always follow it up with the explanation of the abbreviated version taken longer and negating the reason for the abbreviation in the first place.

I would enjoy it if Italy win this game completely against the run of play and dump out the Dutch, gives them a taste of their own medicine after the Japan injustice.

Definitely, the Italians and South Americans certainly sing their anthems with great gusto, to put it mildly. I watched both the Copa America semis last night and the Colombians ( I think) were all giving it large at their anthem - maybe it was Chile....or both ??
Strangest one I ever saw was the North Korean player who "defected" there from South Korea, think it was the 2010 World Cup he could hardly sing the anthem he was crying his eyes out that much with emotion....
