If Sessegnon can’t start against Bournemouth at home then when can he start?

This is just daft. Same as saying Lo Celso must start.

Mourinho is 100% about the players who he thinks deserve to start and who he feels are ready and who will work together to win games.

I want Sessegnon to do well but that's going to be down to him. I like the look of Lo Celso but the same applies.

We either want success or want the players we like to start games.

The bottom line must be that sitting on the bench is not what players want and whilst being paid big numbers they should strive to A always be ready and then when the chance arrives, perform not to relinquish

TH FC first always and with managers who adopt that principle. Mourinho has one favourite

Success.

I think it'll be the same team as Tuesday, but with Ndombele/Eriksen in for Winks and potentially Vertonghen for Alderweireld.

Otherwise, formation and style of play is working, and we're looking far more creative. Hopefully more minutes for Lo Celso.

Agree. I like the look of Sessegnon but we've got a good, big squad now despite where we are in the table. Lots of games in December, I'm sure Sess will get a chance.

Anyone know the Bournemouth team news? I know Simon Francis is suspended. Josh King still injured?
As for the visitors, captain Simon Francis will miss Saturday's game following his red card in the home defeat to Wolves. Phillip Billing is also unavailable through suspension. The Cherries are also without Joshua King and David Brooks. The Norwegian has a thigh injury, while a foot problem means the Welshman is missing.

I can't understand this tinkering.

Barring injuries, start the same team as started on Tuesday. And again on Wednesday against some outfit from Manchester.

I can't understand this thinking.

Why start with Rose who was absolute garbage, cost us at least one goal and offered nothing on the attack?
Why put all of our eggs into one basket, run 11 players to ground, keep others in cold so if anyone from starting team gets suspended/injured we would be guaranteed to bring on someone without match sharpness?
Why keep those coming back from injury out forcefully even if they are better than players who started (Winks vs Ndombele)?
Why don't you understand that if you have constantly 2 games a week, it will start to influence performance levels from one point? One can wank over Leicester title winning team as much as one wants, but they played game a week, our schedule right now is extremely intense. We need to utilize our squad from both sides - to keep starters reasonably fresh and alternatives at least kind of ready to help out the team when needed.

Not saying that we would have to change the whole team, but I don't see absolutely any issue with slight modifications.

Mourinho's 1st game: 3-2 win
Mourinho's 2nd game: 4-2 win
Mourinho's 3rd game: 5-2 win?

Put your house on it.

Kane head (4 mins)
Kane left (17 mins)
Kane right (52 mins)
Kane arse (89 mins)
Callum the ball boy handball goal not disallowed by VAR (90+5 mins)

Because I'm firmly in the camp of getting the team to play together regularly (especially the defence).

You aim to play your best team EVERY game, and resist changing a winning team

Injuries, suspension and drastic loss of form may result in some changes, but rotation just because it seems like a good idea, I can do without.

I can live with slight modifications, but suggesting Vertonghen at left back instead of Rose (who's played there his whole career) because people don't like Rose, seems insane to me.

The Scousers play as many games as we do and yet Allison, VVD, Matip, TAA and Robertson play every week.

I didn't know you can count

Its not because "people don't like Rose". It is because Rose plays badly and is liability on the field.
Performance level should be the indicator, and if it is low, something has to change. Who gives flying fook who has played where for how long. I played also whole of my games as RB, that does not mean I should be picked to play for Spurs? Eriksen used to play as AM, Wanyama used to play as DM. Eriksen is now on his way out and Wanyama is finished - so they are not picked anymore. Because of performance levels.

Aha... but do they though?
TAA played equivalent of 38 full games last season
Robertson 47 full games
Matip 26
VVD 50

Pool played 53 games last season.
So two of the four "played every game", one of them was super-fit CB who is most likely best in the world. And their fullbacks have been best in the league for a while now. If Rose would be 1/3 of the player either of those fullbacks are, I would have no problem him playing every week. But the point is - he is not good enough. This is not about rotation, I think he should be dropped for good, and the time shared between Davies (when fit again), Sessegnon and Vertonghen.

Also there was lot more rotation in Pool midfield btw - also smth that was suggested here. I don't think people want to change our defense for rotation purposes, I assume many here have also seen how badly Rose perfoms, he just need to be upgraded on. Simple as.

He's our only senior, match-fit left back.

The tactic on Tuesday was for Rose to hold back and allow Aurier on the other wing to press forward.

Rose offered nothing in attack for this reason. It was clearly Mourihno inspired and was new to me.

Rose is our only fit, specialist left back. Davies in injured, Sessegnon has only played for 20 minutes this season and you want to risk Vertonghen (a CB - yes I know he's played FB for Belgium) after an extended 'injury'?

No thanks. Rose for me.

As for the Liverpool stats.

Allison
VVD
Robertson
TAA played virtually every game.

Last season, Matip I think was injured and Lovren played instead.

So their back 5 played the overwhelming majority of games and therefore get to know and anticipate each other's game - just as our defence should be doing.
