He's shown glimpses that he could be good, nothing more. Time will be the ultimate deciding factor. Also, if he takes away from Son's effectiveness what do we do?
29 games now in all competitions, no sign of a gameplan, still crap defensively, no real idea going forward we rely on scraps and breakaways for goals. Yes we have crap fullbacks and no holding midfielder but we should be a lot better than this.
The manager is taking away son’s effectiveness, not Bergwijn.
We are genuinely a massive pull for a Manager, they have all the conditions for them to succeed.
My concern that I simply can't get my head around this constant change of profile of coach/manager. I didn't want Poch to be sacked but I get that something needed to change. But why not replace Poch with a similar coach is absolutely dumbfounding. We were heading in the right direction, bring in someone who plays the same, tweak somethings etc but just build on the previous chap. If he doesn't work, then get another in a similar mould et. etc. But to get a manager miles away from what we have built just takes the direction further way for a new guy to replace Jose (assuming we change to a progressive coach that is).
Son hasn't been at the races since we returned after lockdown. He was our one bright spark, now we have the odd glimpse from all attacking players, just never at the same time.
All I can think at this point as Levy was convinced that we were a manager away from trophies. I think Jose gets next season and possibly one more. The issue is it’s clear that it wasn’t the manager and it was the team. If 1/4 of the roster is turned over this summer then Jose will ask for big money signings in 2022 to put us over the top. I wonder if Levy and the board will pull the trigger. If they don’t that’ll be the end of Jose.
Jose is forcing him to stay wide, this is well documented. Son does his best work cutting in and playing on the shoulder more centrally. It’s why poch used to play a diamond all the time to put son up top off Kane.
