I don't think Van de Beek makes sense for us for a number of reasons but if he does come where does he fit with what we have?

It seems like he would play where GLC should play right behind the front 2/3. Would that mean GLC is moved to a deeper role? Does that mean the 4-3-3 is out or do people see him fitting in the MF with GLC and PEH?

I like adding someone with his talent but it seems like an odd fit and it also seems the player thinks he is at a higher level than us as well so I would wonder what his motivation or long term plans would be.

If he comes to Spurs, he will be motivated to perform well to eventually get his move to Real
Madrid or Barcelona.

It makes sense if we want a stronger squad to compete on more fronts. We need a strong 15/16/17 players, not just 11.

I agree and am very happy to have talent players available off the bench to compete for positions.

It just seems (from what I read) that Van de Beek, GLC and Alli are best suited for a position right behind the front 2/3.

I think it would be silly to have one of them starting the other two on the bench and then having a MF with either Winks or Sissoko starting along side PEH.

I am just wondering if he would fit in a deeper lying role either in a set-up like:

GLC-PEH-Van de Beek
Son-Kane-Berg

or

PEH-Van de Beek
GLC
Son-Kane-Berg

If they know that Tanguy is gone and every report has the majority of clubs with limited cash, Skriniar for Tanguy seems like a very good swap.

I get that it leaves a massive hole in our MF, but I can't see how they can look at Toby, Dier, Sanchez and not see that we desperately need another starting quality CB in that group in the next two years and not see that Skriniar is a clear upgrade on Dier and Sanchez, and potentially Toby depending on how he ages.

The Dier re-signing, pumping up and over playing has me concerned that they really are that poor at evaluating defenders and they could actually not rate Skriniar in favor of Dier.
It could also be that you suck at evaluating defenders. I'd put my money on that.

If all three midfielders are solid defensively and can be creative, what’s not to like? That would be a fantastic midfield.

I just realized.

Diego Costa and Erik Lamela on the same team.

Is that legal?

All I am saying is Van de Beek can play any role in the midfield. Same goes for GLC. Maybe even PEH.

Fair enough.

I think there is a difference in can play and is best played in. I agree GLC can play in a deep role but he is better played in an advanced role. I think PEH could play in an advanced role but is better in a deeper role.

I was just trying to get the sense of what is Van de Beek's best role as it seems he is similar to GLC in the role that both are best suited for.

Either way i think there is a zero percentage chance he comes here so doesn't really matter all that much.
