He's played a fair bit at CB for both Ajax and Argentina. He's undersized but so was Javier Zanetti to whom he's often compared, and good ol Jav could put in a real shift at CB,so can Tag who's a proper grafter, he's strong, fast and also quality on the ball. He's ace at leading the pack at Ajax, he's got European cup experience. I think he'd do great as part of a 3 with Toby (middle) and Sanchez (right). I think he could be for us what Gaby Heinze was for Utd. We'd just need Toby to find his best again, that's been buried for ages now. And you never know, Davison might at last justify his price tag and potential

Zero games at CB last year according to:

LB:

CB:

Or 18/19:

LB:

CB:

Not sure I'd be keen to build a back-line around a 28 y/o who's not a specialist CB..... Still looking at 25-30m too (see prev. about risk vs price).

Maybe it's cause nobody is keen to splash any big cash on deadwood like Rose or on an unproven guy like Foyth...or on Mr troublemaker-with-shit-for-brains Aurier? Go figure.

I think Sess will leave on loan, hopefully not to Celtic where the level is shocking. I'd rather he goes somewhere like Palace, So'ton...or to a decent team in Germany.

Gaz will get loaned out to, either Spain or Ger.

If he goes to Celtic at least he will play, no guarantee he will at the other places, especially if Spurs think that his future is as a LB. I think what is most important is that they decide what his position is and getting him playing as much as possible at that role.

The idea that he is so talented he can fill in at LB or LWB or LW seems to be resulting in him not being good at any of those spots.

We were long admirers of Joachim Andersen - who Lyon now want £20,000,000 for.

Surprised the links haven't come back out

CB we tried to buy in summer - runours were we had to allow Lyon to get him to allow us to get Ndombele at start of pre-season as Aulas was threatening to only let transfer go through at end of pre-season,

Anderson hasnt done that well at Lyon. Still young but a punt.

I would say the southampton manager is a pretty modern coach, and he made HOJ his captain until he decided to leave, so not sure what you are on about, he looks like he is a decent signing and is getting better each game.
Yes, let's give him time, of course. But I'm just not sure he has elite ball-playing qualities, he's a great destroyer but that seems to be it. However, if that's what Mou wants and we get enough creativity elsewhere (Tangz, GLC), that's cool with me. Tbh we've needed that bite ever since Mousa left so. Only thing is MD could play a bit too

What utter nonsense you’re chatting.
Care to elaborate or you just dissing?
I was only expressing MY OPINION, which is what a forum is about. I like a ball-playing midfielder and I was only saying I'd have preferred Bennacer over PEH, but we got Hoj in and I'm gonna support him and praise him when he deserves it. I'd love it for him to contribute creatively to the team and not just do what he's already good at ie breaking up play/roughing it up

A few outs will go in the domestic transfer window (ie to Championship and EFL clubs) which closes Oct 16.

Only ones we expect to go on or before Monday are Rose and Foyth (loan or perm) and maybe Sessegnon (loan) - plus any established overseas players such as Aurier or Sissoko but hopes on these going don't seem to be that high.
Foyth represents a brilliant purchase or loan for a club a tier or two below us in my view. Not had a big chance really, some weaknesses but also some obvious ability and a high potential ceiling which those sorts of clubs cant often buy. It was us who bought him and we’re a big club, PSG were also interested so he is at that level in terms of potential. Surely someone will pay for the chance.

sess also bags of potential but not clear his level and we will want our money back so he looks somewhat pricey. Harder to shift.

Rose past his best and a potential pain to work with. Hopefully we can at least loan him out yo get him away from our squad.

Anyone know this guy?

Allegedly we made an inquiry today....

I love this forum. We have cried out for a good defensive midfielder for a couple of seasons now and we sign Hojberg who was apparently the managers choice but since his signing various members slag off Hojberg and want a different defensive midfielder because he is not good enough/not who they wanted.

Most reasonable people can accept that he may not be the best in the world but they will give him a chance whilst also realising that he will not produce world beating displays every single game but will hopefully eventually adapt to his teamates and style of play whilst doing the job the manager wants (as he seems to be doing).

Still some though who cannot get behind a player their team has signed whilst also advocating new players for all positions who they have signed on a computer game. :mourfinger:
If Jose wanted him then that's good enough for me as I'm happy to admit he knows more about footballers than me.

It's more that Hojbjerg isn't a defensive midfielder.
