You're right. It is a little amusing that rival players give Harry more credit than "professional" pundits.

If Harry breaks Shearer's record then it'll be a big fuss to us but most likely will be glossed over with the twisting of stats. I'm ok with that. Tbh I'd probably be uncomfortable if the MSM starting fawning over us even a fraction of what they do to Kluntt or even Legoman.
Theyve already started pointing out that Shearer scored 23 goals the season before the orem league began. And if Jane scores 284 they’d find sonething else to say negative.

That's a crazy stat isnt it?

I assume Defoe, Hoddle and Greaves run him close.

Dier must be coming up to it too.

No Danny Rose or Winks in that list? Suprised....

Although this I actually agree with

to fairly beat shearer he has to beat shearers 284 goals

which, credit to him is fuckin impressive

stay fit I think he can do it .... starting with 4 more against shitty

Shearers is impressive.

But he also played 17 league seasons of consistent first team football, from the age of 19 to the age of 36.

Playing an average of 32 games a season in the process.

Harry Kane started playing consistent first team football at Spurs at the age of 21 and has so far played 6 full seasons of consistent first team football, averaging 33 games a season in the process....

I'd argue, if he played for us until he was 36 and keeping up the same average of games per season (and keeping up his average league goals per season (which is 23), he'll beat it with ease. In fact, if he kept up that average until then, he'd be on over 300 league goals.

And that would be in 2 or so seasons less than Shearer managed.

Point well made .... although we can’t knock shearer for breaking into top flight first team football at such a young age .... only applaud it

also never realised he played til 36 !

again I agree Harry can do it

Aye, just got to keep Kane fit and healthy.

Even an 'unhealthy' Kane manages 33 league games a season on average.

With his strike rate this is more than enough games for the next 5 or so years to break Shearers Prem record at least.

The more games, obviously the better chance he has - I think he'll do it.

Please omit that Judas toolbag (40) from the Spurs Victor Ludorum he has no place sullying our greatness I thank you.

“I think it just clicks with certain players," said Grealish when discussing how he found linking-up with Kane.

"Every time I had the ball I was trying to look for him because I know what damage he can cause in and around the box.”
:( they do look like they love playing together. Oh well at least it's good for England.
