Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I dunno I think Levy buckled with Toby, its pretty clear he was going leaving probably due to the contract not being long enough, Jose joins and he gets a 4 year deal?
I’m more than happy to get rid of Jose, but there is categorically no fucking way he is responsible for our squad and the insane deals they are on. 100% Levy.

Remember, Poch said he was just a coach, had nothing to do with recruitment. Now that it’s Jose, all of a sudden he’s drawing up the contracts?

well how were we supposed to know Bale was going to be a disaster ? Most of us were ecstatic when we got bale back and bought in what looked like a decent back up finally to Kane in Vinicius. You can’t tell me it’s a shit window Just because they have looked poor. Fact is, Mourinho was backed and with the squad at his disposal, we should be a lot fucking higher than 9th
I'm not talking about what we knew then.
The comment I replied to was the here and now. Someone said we had a good window

No we didn't.
We thought we had a good window in September. We now know we didn't.

Again you are talking about and then correlating 2 different things (and with significant hindsight)

Did we have a good window ? Personally I think yes.
Mourinho himself went to many a press conference thanking Hitchens and Levy for the transfer window.

Are the players we bought playing well ? That is where you may have a point, but that is totally different from whether we had a good window or not. That certainly can come down to, and probably does, how the manager has used, trained into his tactics and integrated the players.
If this manager goes, players could well prove, as we thought at the time, and with good reason, that it was a very successful window.

We had a good window last summer. We did jot get everything that was needed but that was never going to be the case when the likes of Sissoko are still at Spurs.

The problem we have is the tactics we employ are awful and so Is the coaching. I have seen us play three at the back and we cannot do it because you need to be well drilled to play like this. Then there is the fact we never try to win the ball and let teams attack us. Jose has bored me too many times.

It is past time for Jose to go. Levy was an idiot for hiring him. Levy has always been too attracted to a name and fails to do his due diligence on this. He has zero clue about football.

Jose has lost more games than AVB how has he still got a job.

We need a new man to come in and bring the Ketchup back to the canteen like Harry did. Change the atmosphere around the club.

I think in general it is Levy and he is probably shit scared of loosing money like with Eriksen. I don't think Jose sat down and sorted out Toby's contract, but I do think Jose said do what it takes to get him to stay, obviously within reason.

Are we blaming Jose for contracts now?

That not on Levy?

What was Jose supposed to say, ‘they’re shit, sell them’.

I imagine Levy told Jose that there wasn’t much money about so he has to work with what he has.
I'm not "blaming" anyone. But the notion that Jose wasn't backed is fucking bonkers!!!

Jose was 100% backed by the board on the players the HE wanted. He converted these players pre-Tottenham and when he became Tottenham manager these were his priority deals. Toby was leaving the Club on a free and Dier wasn't happy that happy and made public that he wanted to focus as a CB.

If people think we should have signed "better" Centre Backs then the opportunity to do just that was to let Toby and Dier leave. Jose is the reason why they signed, they are both on record as saying this!!!

All he talked about was how much he loved Dier, then he overplayed him no matter how bad he was.

He may not have drawn up the contract or been involved in the fine details but there is zero doubt that he told Levy to make sure Dier was signed and came into this season happy that Dier was one of his CB's.

We all know why he could not bring success to Spurs. The simple fact is Levy has failed to back him. Poch worked miracles.

Levy has set us back 5-10 years and when Kane and Son look to leave this Summer. Levy will be responsible.

Jose needs to be bank rolled hundreds of millions to bring success. It is an absolute embarrassment that Levy brought him in.
The closest thing to working a miracle in recent memory was Ranieri/Leicester winning the league. Poch didnt work any miracles - no manager does.

We can debate whether Poch got the best out of the squad but he definitely wasnt working any miracles as the league performance of the team is easily correlated with the quality of the squad he had.

£30+ million to get rid of him. Levy has ruined his reputation as a hard nosed business who always gets the best deal. He had his pants pulled down. Getting rid of Mourinho may need to be funded by a major player sale. Most damaging appointment in the club's history.

Sure, let them leave and sign 2 more Rodon.

Every Spurs manager is backed to the extent of Levy's willingness to spend and we have not been exactly splurging in the market.

The most expensive signing Mourinho has gotten is a 27m Bergwijn! If you think that is Mourinho's unrestricted preference, then I have a brridge to sell to you.

A manager can dream of signing Mbappe to bolster our attack and Levy will 100% back him by signing Muller Mbappe.

We could sign Mbappe and it wouldn't matter as Jose would have him on the bench for not tracking back enough.

Absolute nonsense. He took top 8 team and made.them.regular top 4 and champions League finalists....enough of the revisionist nonsense. He performed miracles (as can be demonstrated now with the fraud Jose getting better backing than poch and performing like avb)

Sure - the same way he kept CR and Hazard on the bench.

One can see you coming from miles away

No the way he has kept GLC on the bench, not even had Dele or Vinicius in the line-ups even with injuries to the attacking players and way he has made Bergwijn from an attacking player into an extra FB on the field.

But feel free to keep talking about the past while ignoring what he has done here since it doesn't fit your agenda.

Even after he subbed him after twenty minutes?

People are getting carried away with Jose. He’s responsible for the tactics and man management. There’s more than enough to moan about there.

But it’s not his fault that we’re lumbered with Dier and Sissoko until the year 3046. He’s not the one that is incapable of turning over the squad and getting good money for Winks or Dele.

Jose praising the players when he joined is what every single manager in world football does.

Certainly agree he was backed. Hojberg feels like a Jose signing (although we were linked before his arrival) as was Dogherty. Don’t think he had much to do with Bale and Lord knows what the deal
with Vinicius. Also think Stevie was someone we had been working on for years.

I personally think Jose would love to replace Dier and Sanchez. He’d take, for example, Skriniar in a shot.

We just don’t have the money and our squad is bloated. That’s nothing to do with Jose.

Yes even after he subbed him after 20 minutes because he then went to have Dier as one of the first names on the team sheet for most of his time here, ahead of the much better Alderweireld.

It wasn't just say nice platitudes, he clearly went above and beyond talking about Dier. Dier also fits the type of player he liked in the past and fits the style of football he wants to play.

Saying that Jose did not want Dier is ridiculous, he is the exact type of player that Jose wants.

When has he benched GLC? Genuine question.

He’s pretty much always been injured, to the point of rushing him back.

He’s desperate for him to return.
