This doesn't seem impossible:

Yes they wouldn’t let us in unless we had mourinho and bale :mourfacepalm:

End of days are here. Fuck them all. I’m off to support an English club playing in an English league for English trophies
Or a British league, playing for British trophies.
Leyton Orient it is.
And Bolton when I visit up north.
This has been on the cards for years. I’m pretty violated that Spurs are part of it.
Bow Lockes Bow Lockes
Even the fan base is growing.

I better go back and join them again!

Free tickets for the TFC mob.

This could be it for player contracts as well, I can't imagine that players won't be trying get released from their contracts if their national team places are at risk. It won't even be a fire sale, it'll just be players leaving, left right and center, and since I'm sure the club are at fault then we could lose everyone for zero. And that's not just us, that's all of the club's.
UEFA deliberately used the word "could" because I suspect it doesn't know about the national team point. I don't think UEFA could stop national teams selecting players. The FA should be allowed to pick who it wants to play for the national team. If the FA want to impose restrictions, like in rugby, I suppose it could, I don't think it would though.

What so we've built a new stadium and made top 4 a few times so in your mind that gives us the right to be in this super league twaddle with no chance of relegation ever and not Everton??

great logic

You'd be fucking fuming at this if we weren't in.

Made the top 4 a few times?

List the teams that have made the top 4 more than us the past 10 years.

I understand that people are mad at at this, but the need for Spurs fans to try and belittle our involvement is ridiculous. Of course we deserve to be there especially ahead of the other PL teams that are not there. None of them come close to deserving a spot.

Am I though? Sure, there might be some players who don't want to go and play in a WC.

I'm sure Everton would find the £150 -£200k a week to pay Kane if it means they don't have to pay us to sign him, and especially if it means he's still allowed to play for the national team.

How are they going to find that kind of money with zero chance of getting CL money?

And that is with the almost certainty that Kane would be able to play in the WC.

But we're still going to be in the PL next season. The SL is replacing the CL. We're invited to it because we can compete, we're one of the richest clubs in the world! 2 shit seasons doesn't make us shit forever.
We will need to invest heavily to make this squad be able to compete against the 19 best teams in the world. I dont trust the netspend trophy winner to invest much.

What a weird post.

But he is much more likely to invest now that he has the guaranteed money from the SL coming in every year. That makes it much easier and more likely that he will invest.

Remember Levy talking in the documentary about how important CL money was and the impact it had? Now we get that every single year. There is no downside in Levy investing now because he has the baseline guarantee of SL money. He doesn't have to worry about investing big and missing out on the CL money to cover it.

Our finances haven't been as heavily impacted by Covid as many of these other clubs (the annual loss of all bar LFC was posted earlier), we've done quite well lately as well and haven't been living hand to mouth. In all honesty, we've probably got as much money as anyone but City and PSG to spend out of our signing fee, and more motivation.

If this gets the green light for next season, I'd expect Spurs to spend well in the summer.

What is weird?

The fact I don't think we are some little club that should be crying about lesser teams like Everton not being involved instead of us.

Do I need to say more than quoting your post? What about Leicester? Forgetting others for a second, why do we deserve to be there? We haven't one anything since 2008. We have a good stadium filled with 50 year olds, is that it?

The fact we are discussing who deserves to be in a mafia style league is amazing.

What about Leicester?

They have one top 4 finish in their entire history. They have spent more time out of the Premier League than in it, have finished in the bottom 10 twice in the past 5 years.

Their finances are nowhere near the level of the other teams, they have zero European success, they have shown no ability to maintain any level of quality play.

Why do we deserve to be in there? Our finances, value, stadium, results domestically and in Europe. People can laugh about the stadium all they want but it matters, it brings in massive revenue.

It is world class for hosting these international, mega TV events. That matters to the people running this new league. Maybe you can try and argue they should have cut the numbers and taken less teams, but as much as people want to laugh at us, which makes no fucking sense, there is no argument for any team outside of the ones already in being close to deserving beyond us.

It's not about Everton.

This super league would destroy the revenue of all the smaller teams in all the lower leagues. The fact we'd be in the ESL, and our participation wouldn't depend on performance, goes against the spirit of the game.

That is a different argument, one that I think is still wrong, but that was not what I was arguing against.

Someone said why not Everton in this new league and I was pointing out how ridiculous this sentiment, and similar sentiments I have heard on social media, are. Everton doesn't come close to deserving a spot in this league than we do.

We are certainly a bigger club than Everton and Leicester.

The whole idea is a disgrace and a betrayal of football.
