Remember the EPL only exists because the Big 6 (well big 5) scared the shite out of the little clubs and virtually blackmailed them into forming the EPL - why won't the same thing apply now?If the big six were locked out of the Premier League how much would those that are left have to cut their ST prices by?
The big 6 know that they are the games everyone want to see. How much would BT and Sky pay for Premier League TV rights without them?
Edit. Premier League TV rights £1.7bn. Football League (which is riddled with ex-Prem teams) £120m.
"You want us in the EPL you must give us the ESL" .... pretty sure I know who blinks first.
The only real chance of standing up to what is basically financial bullying is if governments get involved - the EU might see this as a chance to again slap the UK who have by far the most clubs ... for once the EU might prove useful but I wouldn't hold your breath, when it comes to getting on gravy trains think we all know how that plays out.
