I agree but how likely is it that Ndombele hasn't flourished because he hasn't found the right tactical niche in our midfield, as I think you were arguing?
I think most of us hope there is a player in there and that our next manager can find him. But if it happens, I think it'll be more about his confidence and part of that is having a manager who believes in him fully and gives him license to play without too many tactical constraints. Of our past managers, I think of Jol or Redknapp as types who'd be better fits for him than the very disciplined Poch and defense-minded Mourinho.

I wonder if a back three doesn't create a more forgiving structure for some of the pieces we've got. Victor Wanyama was able to be something of a PEH-type player as a nominal 6 in Poch's pressing 3-4-2-1 or whatever you want to call it.

I'm not suggesting we get rid because our priority should be getting Winks and Sissoko out the door first and we would get nowhere near 60m for Ndombele now so may aswell give the new manager a shot with him.
Kante is great, Pogba can be good when he is motivated which is not nearly often enough and Rabiot is pretty meh for a team like France.
No backtrack here compared to the abundance of wealth they have everywhere else the midfield is terrible for France. The fact that you won’t mention the other guys but focus on 3 guys shows it as well. Not a chance the forward or defensive version of Sissoko gets into this squad.
I haven't given up on them just yet, but you can't spend what we did for Ndombele, Lo Celso and Sessegnon and get how little we've gotten through two years. Disastrous.
