Not being n the CL is no longer an acceptable outcome. Prior to the new stadium it was, not anymore.
The stadium is built for the very top and with it the top level sponsors and revenues.
This is why the money will be spent, it needs to be in order to underpin the massive investment and secure/attract revenues..

I just don't believe Levy will ever spend to succeed. He didn't get a coach that'd ever done it before when it could have had one.
There's never been any evidence he will put money into players and we're clearly way off the best 4 in the league right now.
No doubt we'll lose our first game, as usual, and be on the back foot.

Front 3 of Liverpool are in danger of growing old together. Firmino nowhere near what he was, Mane poor last season.
If we have a chance of top four it is catching Liverpool if they start to struggle.

Not a chance. Liverpool will be much stronger this season with a fit and ready VVD. He is basically their star man. Everything good is because of his ability in defence. The only time we threaten the top 4 is if our bald cunt of a chairman starts spending money this window and sorts out that shit defence of ours. Romero isn’t enough.

Silva would be the highest pedigree player we’ve signed this millennium, who is still in their prime (ie not Edgar Davids type).

He was on the six player shortlist for PL POY just two seasons ago. He’s a rolls Royce player, we need creativity. Won the league 5 of the last 7 season in Portugal, France, and England.

Can’t be bothered to go back and looks through, but I highly doubt we’ve ever signed a player this millennium who has made a PL team of the season, let alone shortlisted for POY. And he’s still only 26.

People seem excited for the Sarr link for 45m but wouldn’t want Silva for similar value. Boggles the mind honestly.
Parker was the '10-11 FWA PoY if that counts...to be fair he made the PL Team of the Season with us the following year as well.

This. The usual noise from within the club saying we are spending this and spending that. Amazes me how you all fall for it every single season

Because they are doped.

Will they continue with top 4 finishes and CL runs if standing on their own two feet?

How many times have we seen clubs assume ongoing CL participation and fall foul of it?

Without Oligarch money behind them they don't stand to legitimately earn more than us as a club. Only by performing, which will be much harder without uncle Romans hand outs.

It would be foolish to assume they would simply continue their current status, or that we will either

No, it's not because they ARE doped. It's because they were doped.
Bottom line is, ENIC have put similar money into Spurs but instead of putting it into the team. We now make money in non-prize related endeavours but we fail on the pitch.

If you believe Chelsea will just go away without Abramavic or that it's even likely to happen you're in lala land.

I don't want to upset anyone but I don't think shearer was in Kane's class.
Shearer was a great goal scorer. Kane is a great goal scorer and an outstanding creative player. Probably second only to De Brunei as passer of a ball.
We tend to underrate him as he came through the youth team.
In a normal world Madrid would have paid the money and he would be there now.
Some of the press have said that City bought Grealish because of the release clause of 100m. Well they know what it will take for Harry ,so pay it

Sissoko is on £105k pw,believe it or not we’re one of the higher paying clubs in the league.
The thing that has changed significantly over the last five years is due to the TV money that the Premier League really blows almost everyone out the water except Bayern, Juventus, Real Madrid, and Barcelona in terms of wages.

For example, I read Lautaro Martinez is one 40k/week at Inter. Of our first team players only Tanganga, Rodon, and Jack Clarke make less than that. Pretty much our entire team makes 60k/week plus, with 5-6 over the 100k and Kane and Ndombele at 200k.

Moral of the story is that we can comfortably double or triple many continental players salaries even if they are in top leagues at good clubs, except for the true European elite. On the flip side, it makes it harder to attract top EPL talent because clubs like for example Palace can keep their best players like Zaha on 130k/week.

Replaced VDV with Dempsey, Bale with Lamela, Eriksen with nobody. I really don't expect us to find a replacement for Kane if/when he goes.

We'll probably buy some bargain basement chancer and spunk the rest of the cash on mediocre squad fillers.

10000000%. We will get a few N’nobody’s from the french league, some shit striker on the last day and the Spurs media team will start bum licking Son as our saviour. Just watch. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t me having a pop at Son. I love Son. But, he’s not the answer to our striker situation if Kane goes. You can bet your mortgage Spurs will use the Son propaganda at the end of the window when we sign Braithwaite

I'd bet a testicle Levy hasn't told them what it'll take.

Gio was clearly to replace Eriksen.... Even bought him before selling CE which is something people complain we don't do.

That div AVB got rid of VDV.

And you can see with the events already being booked in that the club have reason to be confident in bringing any money spent back in pretty easily.

Oh yeah, they have already started jostling to position Son as our megastar lord and saviour. Obviously I think he's great (not so much in the last half of last season) but he can't be expected to carry the team.

I know we don't have a divine right to any top striker we want, but nothing about Levy suggests we'll show any ambition to bring in an established quality player who can hit the ground running. Nothing.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if we sold Kane on the last day of the season and didn't sign anybody.

This is fair...... I'm just sick of reading from people that we'll be worse than last year.

Rom, Gil & Goll can all be considered upgrades on those they replaced and further moves seem on the cards.

- VVD & Henderson could well struggle.
- Wijnaldum (under-appreciated) gone.
- Thiago v.slow to adapt.
- Keita not up to snuff.
- Ox-Ch gone.

They could struggle in MF if the chips don't fall their way.

There's no particular reason why they won't struggle further...... Especially Mane.... He's a big mofo; once that freakish athleticism goes he'll fast be a shadow of the player.

Both him & Salah will be off to ACON too.

Perhaps.... The same could be said about us and our dead-wood.

(I thought Shaqiri had already gone btw?)

Mane didn't look half the player he has been, last season. But he just didn't seem rigth, be it mentally or physically or both. I'd be surprised if he's suddenly regressed so much as a player as it was only two seasons ago he would have walked into just about any side. I am also surprised that Liverpool are still sticking with the same four up top. I thought at least one from Firmino, Salah or Mane would be sold and replaced for someone younger, as they are all 29/30.

I do think they have definitely peaked as a team, and won't challenge. But they still look a very good side and one that should make the top 4 again. Anyway, fuck Liverpool and the rest of them. I genuinely think we'll take something from City this weekend and with a couple more good signings hopefully to come this window, things will be looking considerably better.

mate, if we sell the best striker in Europe. We have a Devine right to sign a top quality striker, end of story. If we get anything less, it’s an absolute piss take of the supporters. I don’t trust Levy. I don’t trust the club. Kane will go on deadline and we will be left scrambling around for Braithwaite, Ivan Tony , Tammy Abraham ( who hasn’t gone Roma yet) as replacements. Just bloody watch.

Hmm. Not sure about Gio. Either as a replacement or as a player.

Yep AVB got rid of VDV, but Baldini and the 'committee' probably went for Dempsey with a view to chasing dollar signs, and thinking 'rabbit in headlights' Siggy would suddenly step up a level or two.
