I don't want to pretend we don't have Serge or Doherty right now since we technically do. I'd love for Tangaga to start every game because I have faith in him. We need to do something with the other two. I know Nuno likes Doherty, and IF we get that Japanese kid, then Tangaga could truly be the odd man out which would be fucked.
TanGanga not going on loan now I hope?

Not just the players, but I also give Nuno a lot of credit for containing our weak spot. Obviously our biggest weakness is our defense and how we tightened the center from the top to bottom minimized the chances of Dier and Sanchez facing usually situations of them chasing forwards and committing a foul or losing players running behind during crossing, etc. I also liked that they didn’t have to build up from the bottom since their passing ability and football brain are questionable. I’m afraid when we face weaker teams where we have to bring our back line up, Dier/Sanchez duo would make usual mistakes again.

I'd have assumed that 6 weeks ago too but:

- Doherty appeared to trickle down the pecking order over the course of the friendlies.
- Japh got the nod against City despite pulling up with a niggle vs The Goons.

My conclusion is that either:

- Tomiyasu signs and then we have two players there that can both play RB and CB going head to head for 1st team action; the other getting Europe & cups.
- We end up buying an alternative, specialist RB then Japh slides to #2 RB and an emergency CB.
- Nothing happens and Japh is #1 RB and Doherty is back-up.

Not to be harsh about Doherty, but even if he survives the cut this summer he still has no future here.... If I was running things; I'd ditch him before Serge.

You know how we were talking about future captains a week or so ago........?

Yeh... Me too.

He really played like a captain. During the game he was one of the players who really stepped up and set the standard for all the others to follow by being aggressive and crushing his 1v1s. Until he is ready, should forever reason Lloris lose the captaincy, I actually think Alli looked like a potential new foreman out there. I have been critical about Alli for years, but if he can keep going with the effort from Sunday, he could be a great on-field leader.

How good is Skipp by the way? Niggly little bastard - exactly what we have been missing.
Skipp is briiliant. I am convinced he is an actual genius, one that has chosen to become a footballer and who is doing it with full out determination and dedication. The way he got his head on the ball in the wall on the early free kick says quite a lot about who he is.

He's another bitter miserable cunt like Sourness... I think they just hate life.
Weird isn't it?

Both from Liverpool teams that enjoyed ridiculous success, you'd think they'd be all sunshine and rainbows.

But Nicol seems to have an unreasoning hatred of Spurs. Even when we were flying under Poch, you never got a good word out of him that wasn't followed by a sour dig.

I always turn ESPN off when his lemon sucking mug appears on it.

City's best player last season was Gundogan. Nuno had Dele and Skipp marking him on either side and he did fuck all yesterday.

There was a scene on tv with Pep kind of angrily discussing things with is assistants. Nuno and his team won the tactical battle.
The commentator on MOTD said something on the lines of Pep sees the game differently from everybody else - maybe that's why they lost!!!!

This is some bullshit 'what if' game you're playing right now.

Not really. You saw how much they improved when he came on. He makes a massive difference to them even if he's not at his best himself.

I said all week I thought we were good for a point. But in my opinion, had KDB started that game I think we'd have struggled to win that game of football. Fortunately for us he wasn't, and in the end we deserved the 3 points we got.

Something even the most depressive can take a modicum of joy from... Go on, wallowing in misery can't be good for you...

Wasn't it amazing to hear the stadium in full roar? Credit to all you that were there, for us watching on the telly it made the hairs stand up on our arms
most depressive…..there was one on here last you’d have thought we’d just been relegated not just hounded the so called “champions” and celebrate a good day at the football feck me we haven’t had a lot of them recently you’d think irrespective how we got the result he’d be pleased but no doom & gloom

He is an outstanding player to be fair

They didn't start with him, Foden, Walker, Stones... These are big players for them. I don't see why people get so upset just because I say that although it was a very good win and a great way to start the season, we shouldn't get too excited based on one game. Had we lost by a few I wouldn't have been saying we're relegation fodder suddenly.

But some people here seem to have some sort of split personality disorder with how quickly opinions can change from game to game.
