Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

kulusevsky seems to be available in january.. do you like him?
Decent player and talented for sure but many Swedes like to hype up their own players.

Same with Isak. He is a talent but I have not seen any consistency. Can score 3 games in a row and then nothing for 7 games.

Imo we should go after the Belgians: Doku, De Ketelaere, Mangala,... to name a few. They have a nice generation coming up again.

From the Department of Statements of the Bleeding Obvious, but interesting to see it phrased that way and an important thing to understand.

I’m amazed by how much the likes of Burnley have…imagine the difference that would make to their team - or Norwich. Yes, 400m is massive, but means less when you’re fighting for the most elite players - you could get a very decent mid-table team with 170m if you bought senisbly.

(I’d start with Winks and Dele if I was Burnley… )

I’m absolutely shocked by this news that a club which self imposed its own transfer ban for 18 months supposedly is no where near breaching FFP rules

I might need to sit down for a bit

Kulesevski doesn’t make much sense with Conte coming in. I guess we could play him as one of the two more forward MFers but I would hope we could do better than him.

With no wingers in Conte’s 3-5-2 there is no need for him, although I’m not sure there is a need for him even if we stuck with a 4-3-3.

Obviously important to take transfer rumor BS with a boulder of salt, but it is a bit frustrating to hear us linked with seemingly everything but the classy creative midfielder (bonus points for dead ball ability) that the squad so desperately cries out for.

We’ll see about Vlahovic. Kessie on a free is too good to pass up. But it’s that lock picker we need to be searching for.

And then there’s the whole HGP problem.

The HG player issue is so frustrating because if we would have bought one or two of Bowen, Eze, Olise, Watkins, Aarons, Godfrey amongst many others, we would have no HG issue and been better off than we currently are with the guys we bought.

Edit:

This isn't revisionist history because I, and many others, suggested these guys at the time but if we had bought Bowen- 18m and Godfrey- 20m instead of Bergwijn- 26m and Rodon- 11m who were bought at the same time and the cost is 1m difference, we likely are better off and have 2 more HG guys.

That is why I say HG issue isn't a problem if you are competent because there are plenty of opportunities to bring in HG players.

Conte never really plays with a sort of #10 esque lock picker you’re referring to, it’s generally a deeper lying player like Pirlo at Juve, Fabregas at Chelsea, or Brozovic at Inter flanked by two hard working pressers like Marchisio, Vidal, Barella, Kante, etc.

I think our bigger problem is our CBs inability to play the ball. Conte wants his CBs and deep lying midfielder to progress the ball quickly up the pitch to the fullbacks and then get the box to box midfielders and striker duo in positions to get overloads on the wings and around the box.

So we’ll see what happens, but I think it’s safe to say that Conte’s formation considers midfielder creativity in the a little bit of an unorthodox fashion.

Levy’s theory was that academy investment would free the club from needing to pay the English Tax, which is one of those aspects of the game that Levy loathes and lives to find ways around.

Well, that’s not the way it works unfortunately.

Burnley doing well, pretty impressive from Dyche n Co. Everton busted flush.

We're set to be very sad if we don't invest £200M odd in this squad in the next 18months of Conte's contract (3 windows).
