The difference being that Lenglet has been either poor or piss poor at FCB for four seasons. I'd say they have a clearer idea of their players than we do.

Let's try another scenario...

Spurs fans: Winks has been either poor or piss poor for us for four seasons.

Fan of club to which Winks is sold/loaned: Spurs fans are dumb and impossible to please...

FWIW I'm not being impatient; I just get the impression that the shelves are pretty bare in terms of RBs.

Why would you write him off before seeing him play? Not an argument just a thought Ben Davies was poor before Conte got his hands on him and the rest is history. I think after the negativity around Kulu and Bentancur I would have thought I’d fans would accept we really don’t know the limits of players we sign even if the noise around them is negative. I say let’s see what Conte can do with him and how he performs in a different league under a new manager and system. French international who was seen as a top talent reminds me of the old saying form is temporary but class is permanent. Let’s see what the kids got. I might be wrong but so you could you.

I'm not talking about his quality I'm talking about the fact there's no option/obligation to buy.

If he improves and we want him and they want to sell then Barca set the price to whatever they want, if we want him and they don't want to sell then they can keep him, if another club comes in for him and offer something bigger they can sell him.

Either:

We think he can be rehabbed... In which case why would we not want to buy him having fixed him.

or

Why would we even want him?


An option to buy would be entrely logical from our point of view..... (Whenever loaning players tbh.)

Barca are absolutely fucked financially...if WE wanted an option added in order for the deal to go through an option would be added.

it seems we're not sold on the player and are just agreeing to a short term fix in the hope that the player can perform better then the expectation levels.

Its clear Conte specified a LCB and he's ok'd this one because the other options are out of reach and he probably thinks he can work his magic on him.

It would still be a 9/10 window. Only 10/10 if we managed to nab Bastoni, and a RWB of a calibre to compete with Reece James, TAA, Walker, Cancelo.

Still could be great if Spence turns out to be a mega signing.

In which case maybe there's some sort of a sell-on clause. E.g. if Barca get anything north of X million for him, we get a cut. That way we get something out of it, in addition to having him for a year, and minimize our risk.
