Ex-Spurs Player Dele

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He was right on all the players he was right about. Saying every player he’s ever coached is just ridiculous

I didn't literally mean every single player. Jesus christ.

Just the ones that it's well known he's spoke out against who went on to get fan backing from the clubs fans, only to then be proven right in the long run.

Which you've just conveniently agreed with me about. Cheers for that.

Such a sad case, but some of it was self-inflicted. Most of us make mistakes whilst we are growing up, not realising that time flies by. But we don't have to do it in the public eye. He gave us some amazing moments when he wore our shirt and I will always think fondly of him because of that. His last appearance at WHL melted many a hard heart, as his emotion was clear for all to see. So I wish him well and hope he can enjoy the next stage of his career, wherever it takes him.

just been watching youtube clips for half an hour or so. I've NEVER done that with any other player. Not even Hoddle or Gascoigne.

The guy was just a magician. Some of the goals he scored were such awkward bounces but he took them all in his stride. His flicks, backheels, nutmegs....insane. Some of the clips no way you think he could have kept possession or get the pass away.

One of my favs. Loved that 4-1.

I don't think we lost money on him. Cost us fuck all compared to what he gave back and it is what it is.

I normally don't give a shit about players when they leave Spurs but I hope he is truly happy and enjoys his time tearing up the Turkish league.

Dele highlights of THAT game v Real Madrid, Wembley. This sums up Dele quite well for us.

Quite poor in possession, got robbed a few times, didn't release quick enough a lot of the time. Some nice flicks and tricks though, some lovely passing. Oh, he's also got 2 goals and that poor headed miss on 3.43 would have been his hat trick and 4-0. Crazy times. I honestly thought that Real would make him their next marquee signing with a crazy bid after that.

Undoubtedly benefited from 2 of the best midfielders we've ever had (when fit), Moose and Wanyama.

Injuries truly can wreck a career.

Some of it may be attitude issues, as some sources are implying. But he did have some rough injuries and probably doesn't trust his body like he used to.

On the technical side he was sublime in 2015-16 in the deeper Gerrard role (he also played for MKD). after that he seems to have lost a bit of touch but at least compensated with a bucket of goals. And then he lost it all

18 non pen goals in a prem season at 20 years old from am. Dont let anyone tell you he was overrated

He was great back then, fearless and vibrant but I felt that there was always something missing, his control would always be a bit flaky and general play kinda sloppy but he benefited massively from that role that he had playing off Kane and getting supplies from Eriksen, in fact his drop off was synonymous with our drop off as a team.

I always said that he needed to refine his game because for a no10 his control and technique wasn't good enough and for a no8 he didn't keep the ball well enough, his best moments where he was outstanding playing in that SS role where he had a free role and didn't have as much responsibility in the build up, just benefiting from the space that Kane gave him and attacking space and timing his runs which he was brilliant at.

Obviously injuries played a massive part as well in his downfall but he was always a luxury player in that he doesn't fit a role in which modern teams play with now especially in the Premier League.

seemed to have lost some acceleration and finesse after he returned from that lengthy spell of injury also.

Well at least on a positive Istanbul is a beautiful place , he'll enjoy the wealthy lifestyle more there than liverpool certainly or even london probably

This is actually quite an incorrect memory of his time with us...and it seems to persist in supporter's minds no matter how many times individual posters are disabused of this - it's whack-a-mole. He was actually quite ratshit in MF and was OFTEN shifted (in-game, a notorious one being away to the scum in what ended 2-2 on Giroud's header after we dominated them in the first half and Dele was shifter about 15 min in) from the position because he had no idea what he was doing and players ran off him constantly. In fact, there is that infamous youtube video of Dier taking the piss out of his MF work by mimicking whiplash as players run by.

But, in November of 2015, Klopp's first game in the PL, Mousa began the takeover of that position. It's a shame it took that long considering Mousa's introduction in the 5-3 Chelsea game the season before should have shown Poch the way forward. But Dele was never good at the base of MF, either in the beginning of his time with us or the end when he still sucked at it. He was a liability in the MF which is why he has nothing to draw on now to keep himself in the PL.

It is all about the goals, isn't it? Always has been for most. Good to know that's where you stand as well. Will prolly be easier for him to score them in Turkey where I'm sure he'll be rated appropriately while tapping them in for the mighty European powerhouse Besiktas. Hopefully, that soothes any concerns you might have. You're welcome.

Hes gona live the rest of his life like a king. Few more years of football for him in a league where he wont even break a sweat. Will collect more money than this entire forum combined and retire at the age of 30. Great potential but lazy.
