Yeah imagine a spurs team playing free flowing football with a bit of creativity.

Although I think Howe has had to build to reach this point. Lots of moaning about their time wasting this season too.

They've played a LOT of stinky dull games this season....... Using us & Everton as canon fodder seems to be disguising(*) that all of a sudden.

Alan Shearer column: A happy club again - but things about to get even better for Newcastle

Last updated on 30 April 2023

I've been reluctant to say this up until now, but Newcastle are nearly there.

A top-four Premier League finish is in sight, and I am feeling confident they will do it, and get across the line.
It's not done yet, but they are not far away from achieving something that I don't think anyone thought would happen before a ball was kicked at the start of this campaign, myself included.

Back then, I was hoping for an improvement on last season's 11th-place finish, but seventh, eighth, or ninth place was my target.

I thought the top six would be too much to ask and if you had told me the Toon would be third at the start of May, I honestly would have not believed you.

The fact that they are where they are with five games to go, and I am looking at the table to work out what they need now to secure Champions League football for next season, tells you what a superb job the manager Eddie Howe has done, and what a magnificent season this has been.

All part of the shithousery, isn't it? Time waste then complain about others' time wasting.

We played ok against Woolwich, just one of those games where fine margins count. Created a number of good opportunities but the woodwork, Ramsdale, or our poor finishing, cost us.

2nd is out of the question, but Champions League is still very much in our hands.

The one thing we didnt need was these wankers getting CL in the first season. under there new owners. Can offer big fees, wages and CL football in the summer.
I remember Man City taking longer to get that that point (with us getting in the way initially, too). Unfortunately this has very much been a 'shit the bed' year for some of the usual contenders - us, Liverpool, Chelsea - meaning their cash pumping operation couldn't have been better timed.

It really is a jump-start that the rest of the league could have done without them being afforded.
