I wonder if new baldy Scott Munn is involved in the DoF and manager hunt, even though he's not starting til July. You'd hope so, in a way. We don't want a delay til then, and we don't want the Board hiring someone totally incompatible with Munn.

It's also a case of assessing the dead wood and the ones on loan, get them shifted, there's a lot to do.
Again, I’d hope whoever comes in already knows who needs shifted. But your point does stand and it would be great to have stability and direction as soon as possible. Pretty sure we’ll see some quick movement when the season ends.

I saw your post about the Benfica guy and they have a great rep for finding and developing young talent. But maybe they are a bit too used to the South American market and things like third party ownership? I’d love to see us unearthing some gems like they do though.

We may not even get a DOF , Levy has been doing the Hokey Cokey on that for 23 years . It might be his preferred strategy , but we have not had a DOF for several long periods during ENIC‘s ownership . Muddled thinking springs to mind , surely you either believe in having a DOF or you don’t . This half arsed approach is a mess
Our periods without a DOF coincide mostly with periods where our management were resistant/refused to work with one. When given the chance, Levy has mostly appointed a DOF. I don't think it's a question that it's his preferred setup.

I think one of our biggest problems over the past years at least since Poch's days is that our recruitment has been poor too often and we've signed some of our most expensive players ever, who have ended up being duds.

I can't think of any young talent we've unearthed since Dele Alli, Since Kane it's only really been Skipp who has come through the ranks into the first team.

So a lot of our problems on the pitch have been caused by behind the scenes.

I'd say that Paratici did ok but he's been playing catch-up because there is and are so many players that need to be replaced. Our defence hasn't recovered since we sold Jan and Toby.

I watched AZ Alkmaar playing West Ham on television last night and even though AZ Alkmaar are on a small budget, they seemed to be able to knock the football about in defence better than we can.

I don't blame Dier, Sanchez et al, they're just not good enough for our league, they needed replacing too but there was only so much Paratici could do in his time here, so it's like the job is only half done. We still need an AMF, two new CB's, and a new 1st choice goalkeeper at minimum.

Including the players on loan we need to shift at least 8 players

Reading this site, I thought that Levy’s preferred set up was to have a stooge in both the manager and DoF position and do all the recruitment himself with the help of Pleaty’s spreadsheets while Tracy came up with set piece plays that Levy would feed into his manager’s brain via an implant.

Agree with this. Paratici's work was decent.

Top 4 last year was Conte working a miracle, but the squad now is better than a year ago and was steadily improved under Fabio. We don't need a major overhaul. I'd be happy with a quality centre back and a GK, and then only if an obvious upgrade on Fraser. Plus maybe a Hoj upgrade if we can find one (McAllister looks difficult but his versatility would add a lot).

Mac is the opposite of shitberg, constantly on the turn and cycles the ball forward. Indont think he’s brilliant but that style of player would be a huge step change vs the rigid, basic ‘warrior’

Would add a left back that can cover either CB or LWB. Perisic can do one and Sess

Well hopefully Udogie will be good at LB/LWB, I'd say it's time for Dier and Sanchez to both be replaced.

Davies is ok as a squad player, but imv we need two new CBs. GK and ATM. We could also do with another CB maybe someone young with potential that can be utilized if we have an injury in the area.

I'd be happy enough for PEH to be a squad player we have Skipp, Bentancur, Sarr, Bissouma, so the MF is ok except we need an AMF.

I'd still like Lo Celso to compete for a CAM/CM spot. For Argentina he's at a similar level to McAllister, but we just haven't unlocked it. In the right set-up, with better players around him now, he could save us a few quid.

I hope he hasn't burnt too many bridges at Spurs. Weren't there rumours that he wasn't much liked when he was here? If the new coach can get his head right, and give him good technicians to play with, there is a good player there.

I think Conte said something about him not being suited to the Premier League.
