Not entirely sure I understand? He's played 30+ league games every season for leicester over 5 years, so he's no sicksicknote, and ability wise he is better imo but a player of darrens quality adjusted for the modern game would walk into this team, piece of piss.
Maddison had a hip injury that limited his minutes for an extended period but which he played through. Think he was seeing a few specialists about it and seemed to overcome it around the start of 2021, but it came back during that year. Then past season his minutes were managed regularly because of unspecified knee complaints, possibly instabilities brought on by the hip complaint. Really talented player, but I think he's one we need to do our homework on. Watched him closely this season and his athleticism could be a concern going forward. Would be delighted if we sign him and that ended up not being the case, very prolific and effective player.

Classic Levy Spurs.

Appoints attacking manager to make football fun for the fans.

Instantly cripples manager with cheap donkeys that crush any fun the fans had left with calamitous mistakes.
At Celtic he relied on the striker, two wingers playing high up and two attacking midfielders basically running till they dropped. His system depends on that. It's why he made changes on the hour mark EVERY game to rotate those most tired. 3 subs on 60 mins, 2 subs between 70-80 mins. This allowed Celtic an advantage as other teams didn't have the bench depth to match them. A lot of Celtic wins came from late, late goals. No other team in Scotland were able to exploit the new five sub rule the same way.

Should add, the system also needs four competent full backs being able to master the inverted full back tactics he sticks by. Problem at Celtic was the 2 backup full backs were never sharp enough to fill in when the main starting left or right FBs got injured or rested. It's when Celtic were most vulnerable. Teams always targeted the replacement FBs as easy picking. They were rarely sharp enough thru not playing regularly so teams would play down the wings and put there fastest players on them to exploit the space. Which to be fair, nearly every team did in Europe to good effect even when Celtics starting FBs played. Ange's press and inverted FBs will create gaps which better teams than Aberdeen and Motherwell will capatlise on

What’s be like with squad rotation?

Does he just roll out the same starting 11 every week?

He sticks to his strongest 11 every week. Whenever he made too many changes for a single game he misjudged it and we dropped points. Perhaps it'll be better at Spurs who I'd guess have a strong bench, but his system relies on match sharpness and a players playing regularly. The first game he thought would be easy to make 4 changes to the starting lineup was St. Mirren and we lost 2-1. A mistake he made against them again (at home) and we drew 2-2.

Our form dropped when we won the league, which you could argue didn't matter obviously by that point. Vickers being out and our 2 starting FBs meant we were pretty gash as the backups struggled to make any impact. His recruitment has been mostly good from Asia, but he's had a few misfits too. 3 of the 5 Japanese players made a big difference. One of them (Hatate) was a driving force in midfield. When he was injured we were VERY laboured and lacked the same threat going forward. Again, we ground out results some weeks in games we really should have been dominant in, even with players who weren't regulars.

His system is basically a keeper who sees a lot of the ball and plays it out from the back.

Two CBs who need to be strong and good passers. It was no surprise that in matches they had most pass stats.

Two inverted FBs who will push into the centre to allow the midfield to push up, but also play as wing backs too.

A centre mid who'll try add cover to defense but also keep the ball moving.

2 AMs who press high.

2 Wing Forwards who are fast and press high and expected to get goals and get behind the lines into the box. Our wingers got a lot of goals.

A fast nimble striker who presses and makes runs into the box. Not expected to hold the ball up, just be there to take short crosses and thru balls. Kyogo got plenty goals cos he was wee and fast with great movement. Sometimes he'd rarely kick the ball but just keep making good runs. Not a Kane type by any stretch of the imagination, two very different players.

i was listening to a pod yesterday that said 'tottenham have 37 first team players'. is that true?

ndombele, lo celso, winks, bentancur, hojbjerg, white, skipp, bissouma, sarr

I know he doesn't contribute much, but leaving out poor Richarlison was mean :-)

Sad if true. Good lord Levy.

Tottenham will back incoming manager Ange Postecoglou with funds to rival Newcastle for Leicester's England midfielder James Maddison, 26, and target Brentford's Spain goalkeeper David Raya, 27, and Wolves' English defender Max Kilman, 26. (Mirror)

Moving on three players, Perisic, Lloris and Ndom will yield £25M Opex savings next year. Madness. You can add Hoj, Sanchez, Reg, Dier and GLC and that’s probably another £25M.

Our wages on garbage players is madness

decent PL player, would be a good upgrade on Sanchez as rotation CB, not good enough to be targeting as our main cb signing

He’s really not that good. If this is the level of player our fans are happy with now, we’re really on a downward trend. As you say, squad player..? Sure. Anything else and eek.

He’s awful in the air & defensively questionable. Basically a home grown Lenglet. Wolves fans don’t seem to rate him much either.
