These aren’t mega signings…. If one goes to City or areal fair enough but they aren’t mega wages / agents players. If we can get both, we should
Gotta say I agree with this. They both appear to be attainable at the moment. If they're legitimately our preferred targets then we should be trying very hard to get them, regardless of the competition.

We're not as shite a draw as some would have us believe.

At this point, I'm not seeing any merit in kicking the can down the road. We need 2 decent CB's and these 2 fit the bill apparently. If we only get one of them then there are plenty of other prospects already mentioned on here.

But if these are the players we want, go get them now. If we get blown out of the water, or the player chooses other than us, then so be it. Get in there first though, sell the player the project, get him comparing everything else to Tottenham, rather than just another club throwing its hat into the ring. Then do the deal with the buying club.

I know the reality is far more complex than that, but the intent needs to be there.

No need to make it personal. I don’t know you - I don’t need props on an internet forum.

It would help the discussion if you read and responded to what was written. Strawmen about buying multiple players in a window are a waste of everyone’s time. You’re better than that.
Lol...did you tell abloke he was 'divorced from reality' then whine that he was making it personal....😑

you cant polish turds, 80% of our cb's need to fuck off, get those 2 in and we are set for 10 yrs

thats a plan

not hoping for cheap crappy loans as a stop gap for 1 yr
IMO, Van de Ven, Tapsoba and Tosin are all good enough at dribbling, all progressive enough with their passes, good enough with their weaker foot and quick enough to play inverted FB too.

Time to get ruthless and bring all 3 in and sell Dier, Sanchez, Tanganga, Rodon, Davies, Sessegnon Regulion and Perisic.

Have Van de Ven fighting it out for LCB with Tapsoba and LB with Udogie

Who gives a shit if they agree or not? If they're on the bench it's because they aren't good enough to start. It's up to them to put the yards in to win a starting spot.
It might be important to the player if they agree or disagree. If I am advising one of these CBs and spurs have just signed another highly-rated CB to play next to Romero and I have other top clubs interested… lll hold out for the objectively better team. I’d rather risk sitting on the bench for Liverpool than Spurs because they’re a bigger club with more chance of fighting for trophies. It’s not really clear what Tottenham have to offer a top prospect with options at the moment.

Spurs fans see things differently maybe but in demand players have choice and don’t have spurs glasses on.

How would you describe getting upset about the possibility that your football team won’t spend 80m+ on centrebacks?

It’s the area we most need an upgrade. I’m not convinced we will spend £80m on CBs but we probably should imo. 20m on GK 80m on CBs 40m on Maddison or similar. £140m spend hopefully we can get 30/50m for our unwanted players?? Net spend of £100m is not out of the question for the money the club generates imo

I’ve never negotiated a multi million euro deal myself .
We use NEC contracts in Civils, which are basically a fully written contract adopted by Client and Contractor. Yet it can take weeks to agree the contract terms as one side will want to alter/remove clauses, the other the same, and both will argue until a compromise is reached.

I don't know if there's a generic contract for players that is altered to suit, or if each player contract is bespoke, but you'd still expect contract negotiations to take a while, depending on the player's representatives.

If Solomon really is available for free, he would be a very astute signing.

Despite his knee injury and only managing 500 minutes, still scored 5 goals and was in the:
94th percentile for successful dribbles per 90,
99th percentile for tackles and
99th percentile for % of dribblers tackled (both handy for a high press).

I don't even see Solomon as one of those cheap Levy punts. He's actually a good player who you can tell by watching him would look much better surrounded by better players.

I know we need HG players but I'd much rather Solomon than say Harvey Barnes who we're linked with. I haven't looked at stats but I am not sure there would be much between them tbh.

Absolutely.

Nothing is ever going to be simple for organizations the size of these football clubs. Especially not with the sums changing hands.

Only turn off with Solomon is the legal challenge from Shakhtar. Is it really worth that ball ache?

Perhaps I made it a bit too personal and for that I apologise. I still think you have an attitude of very low expectations.
Do not apologise.

He continuously patronises people, tells them they are variations of thick, deluded, immature and misguided (as if his highly sophisticated framework of revenue to success is the 21st century rendering of Cartesian magnificence) and then clutches his pearls when anyone bites back.

The only team he cares about is France.
