Im strongly hoping (and this really is likely futile hope) that in reality we do want both Tapsoba and VdV, but we’re putting it out there that we don’t so we can keep both clubs from trying to fleece us….

I just find it hard to believe we’d be working so hard on both deals seemingly, agreeing personal terms with both players to then turn around and say actually thanks but no thanks.
Fabrizio Romano has said Levy will buy just 1 centrebacks and that will be the cheapest.
In price order…
Tapsoba
VDV
Nelsson
Tosin
Lenglet. We‘ll see eventually.

Encouraging how similar the profile is in the data.

Pretty much every chart, every report, all point to the fact that VDV is a project compared to Tapsoba but has excellent character traits to develop into a top defender.

Could be better suited to 1v1 defending in the wide channels already.

A couple of the more extreme ones on the fringe have also now started throwing 'gooner' accusations at those who criticise the board and want better players and more investment in our football team.
Just for balance:
And this is different how exactly to those who call anyone who doesn't want Levy's head on a spike 'Levybots', 'ENIC bots', 'clearly paid by the company' etc? God forbid anyone should be allowed to hold a different opinion. The apparently totally self-unaware sanctimoniousness is astonishing at times.

I could just as easily say:
"This once great bastion of open debate and free speech is being held to ransom by a handful of anti-regime radicals who disrupt every thread with their only focus".

My only concern with taps is, that he can be hot and cold plus easily turned, but that's only my opinion 😁

It's like arguing with a flat earther or antivaxer. They just make shit up to keep arguing despite all the evidence.
You mean like saying that Enic are keeping the money from the extra events ?

Or what about Enic not spending ?

How about Levy looking for too much for players ?

Or only buying players so that he can sell them on for a high fee ?

Or, and this one's a cracker, claiming that Utd would not be a better team if their owners had spent £1bn more on players than stuffing that money into their own pockets ?

Is that what you mean by making shit up ?

Bargain hunting was still a thing until Paratici joined the club.

Bergwijn, Sessegnon, Lucas, even Reguilon were all recent opportunistic signings that were bought by ENIC not necessarily to address first team weaknesses. They were bought because the selling club were happy to move those players on and there was potential their values could double or triple if they had a couple of good seasons at the club.

For example in January 2020, we desperately desperately needed a DM and CF as Wanyama was physically done and Kane got injured on NYE.

ENIC instead spent 30m on a winger from Eredivisie because he was available and there was a potential he could become a 80/90 million player In 2/3 seasons.
Although I agree that when taking a punt on cheaper players we have been woeful, due to bad scouting, I disagree with the premise that it is done with the intention of turning a profit.

If we buy a player for £20-30 million and he becomes a £80-90 million player, that would mean that he has become a key, quality player for us. And we're not in the habit of selling such players, unless they strongly agitate for a move (and even then we try to keep them, often to our detriment).

So the punts are not to turn a profit. Rather they're to get high quality players without having to pay exorbitant fees.
