I don't think it's fair really to just look at Ndombele and Lo Celso then say 'Poch couldn't spot talent.' He overhauled our squad when he came in and built a pretty bloody good one when he first came in, so unless he had absolutely no input on the successes, you have to say that he can pick a player, just that he doesn't have a 100% success rate.

There's not a single manager out there that does though.

GLC is one that I feel has a question mark over him though. I do feel that there is the talent there but, as you say, there were circumstances that led to him being a flop for us when he first got here. He had no injury history before us, was playing for Poch when he was fixated on that midfield diamond that failed badly, was in and out of the side through injury's etc, and would likely have been questioning being there with the manager churn.

Personally, I'd be happy to see if he begins to enjoy AP Football and starts to realise his own potential. He's first choice for his position with Argentina for a reason, and it's nothing to do with favouritism. Get him playing and we have a better midfielder than Liverpool will have with McAllister.

Ndombele I don't blame Poch for, as the vast majority of us felt he would be the perfect Dembele replacement.

If AP can get him playing anywhere near his potential, then that would vindicate the choice.

I'm not convinced he will, but I've seen stranger things happen.
GLC at least works hard & seems to put in a shift. Ndombele doesn’t seem that interested but I know his style is that cool lazy look.
But both are clearly talented. Sometimes things just don’t work out. & the team & manager you join up with is key.
Look at mudryk. He joined a shambles of a team with low morale who were playing badly. If he had gone to Woolwich, a team who were flying then it wouldn’t have been a big shock if he looked & played a lot better. Not that I know how good he is or can be.

No... I'm proud to say; definitely not like me.

Has Lengelt signed for us?

EDIT: also what excuse - you made out like we have been shopping bargain basement for years and it has never worked out for us.

I gave multiple examples of inexpensive players that we have purchased that have all been fan favourites and played to a level WELL beyond their price tag.

I also gave some examples of expensive signings that did not work out.

SO your notion about the rinse and repeat of us only ever going for failed cheaper buys is nonsense. In fact, us going for more reasonably priced players in defence has served us better than not over the last 10 years.

You can simply admit you're not being very nuanced with your assessment instead of trying to move the goalposts.

TO be more nuanced myself about Lenglet..... as far as I am seeing we arent currently bidding for or looking to bring him in.

Despite that, I don't feel like he is as bad as is being made out and could likely do much better for us in Ange's system than Contes.

Did you watch him much for Barca?

Here are some comparison stats for Tapsoba vs Lenglet (Barca) vs Lenglet (Spurs) - the stats are per 90 mins

This is pure desperation. He was dreadful for us outside of ball playing. Offered no sense of defensive stability whatsoever.

I don’t think we’ll sign him so it’s not all that relevant, but it would be a shockingly poor transfer if we did. He’s proven to not be very good.

Watch games rather than looking at these watered down, cherry picked stats.

1) Is Muani really that guy? He did look good at the WC from the few glimpses I've seen but is he the man to carry the mantle in Kane's absence?

2) Gallagher's energy and knack for a goal makes a lot of sense in Ange's system. Wouldn't be against a swap with PEH.

Maddison--- Gallagher
Bissouma

(GLC/Ndombele/Sarr )*- Bentancur
Skipp
* GLC/Ndombele situation is unclear but I wouldn't mind keeping one though it might mean loaning Sarr out. Devine to also go out on loan - he needs a full season of 1st team football somewhere.

It's a strong collection of midfielders.

3) Tosin - a decent backup

4) Tapsoba - if it's only one of him or VDV I'd go with him for the slight edge in experience. Maybe try again for VDV in future.

The punt on the forward is always going to be a gamble post-Kane but I wouldn't be too upset with the above.
Kolo Muani is very good, he's got an elite combination of technique and athleticism, with so many clubs on the market for strikers it's far from clear we'll actually get him though.
