Ex-Spurs Player Tim Sherwood

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Despite the kamikaze set-up of the team, I was warming to the idea of Sherwood because of his interviews and the performance of Bentelab - but seeing Holtby (and Capoe) playing in the reserves makes this evening's announcement hard to take. I hope it's just a fitness thing or something and not a political decision.

:llorishuh:

The Woolwich stuff isn't great though.

Personally I cant see this ending well. I have a feeling he is going to piss off the players. And sirles running about the touch line makes it seem a little bit of a farce. I'm all for British managers and giving someone a chance but this just seems so make it up as you go along. I hated that Sherwood said he didn't know Capou out loud. It's obviously bollocks. He has sky ffs. It's just stinks of Redknapp to me.

Levy the fool has been played again. 18 more months of salary to h's mates. The bloke he sacked. How embarrassing.

I want to be wrong.

There's a whole lot of unnecessary knee jerking, when judgment on Sherwood can't be made yet.

I'm just very underwhelmed. He'll get my full support and fingers crossed he proves me wrong, but all the logic and what I know about football suggests this isn't the smartest appointment.

Other managers appointed with no experience in the Prem include Sbragia, Kean, Gorman, Wilkins, Southgate, Reed Clarke & McClaren. Hopefully he can buck that trend of failure.

But the more people point out about the summer and next year being a token gesture, the more it makes sense. I really had my hopes up for Van Gaal in the summer.

I read this on SC ...
Appointing from within isn't that bad: Guardiola, Bob Paisley etc were recruited from within.
I am up for giving Sherwood a chance

You forgot the legend Bill Nicholson!

... so yeah, there's the half empty side of things and there's the half full side of things.

Happy with this, we weren't going to get anyone better for the rest of the season imo. And as far as I (and many others) can see, he's just the unofficial interim coach.

I'd suppose that's a fair rebuttal. I'd argue that Paisley was in a World of very different football and Pep is a fucking freak. He also had the, by far and away, best side in Spain. Tim doesn't. So it's not a case of half full or empty but those comparisons aren't as close to Sherwood as the one's I've provided.

As I say, will be chuffed to be proven wrong.

With the sacking being the worst possible timing due to the lack of options this is the best possible outcome for the sake of 20 games as if we slide Levy will be under extreme pressure to be relieved of these kind of decisions and can go back to excel, if Tim succeeds and we all hope he does then the project is back on track

He had a squad of incredibly talented players most of which are playing for a World Cup place or place in their countries team so with some guidance and motivation they should pick up results left and right we all hope he is somewhere between redknapp and AVB

At airport coming home for Xmas hoping for 6 points in next two league games! COME ON YOU SPURS

tbh .. its the best we could get.. levy's itchy trigger finger strikes again.
any decent manager will not want to work under levy.. how manys that now !!!

plus side.. 18month .. so if it don't work by the end of this season theres not much compo for the little slaphead to fork out.. fair play to Sherwood.. as soon as it get tough he's going to get it from all sides imho.. no hiding place & levys lap dog.

minus side .. harrys lacky

big minus... goon cunt.. don't give a fuck what anyone thinks.. still have a life passion for my spurs & deep hatred of dial square filth

Also, sure Sherwood seems like a prick but name me a top manager that isn't. It seems to be intrinsically connected to the position.

Can't be arsed to read the rest of this thread.

So he has it till the end of the 2014/15 season.

Basically means if he does well this season he'll get another go. Head Coach sounds a lot better than Interim Coach and sacking him at the end of this season for LVG or FDB wouldn't cost Levy that much anyway. Still don't like him but I'll continue to back him.
