Besides new players coming in we need some of last season’s players to recapture some form. Because of injury or international after affects Madison, Bentancur and Bissouma were pretty poor whilst Dejan was way off key. Even Son,despite being our top scorer had many games he needed to forget. Let’s hope they get back in the groove this season.

While risking with wrath of some super-optimists, I repeat what I said 1,5 weeks ago - based on the info that we have now I feel we have not done enough.

In recent windows we have future-proofed the sides with players like Gray and Bergvall and this young Korean winger. But for NOW... we need to make two more signings - #6 and sharp winger.

Looking at us having spent 120 million this summer and 272 million last season (392 million alltogether) with respective net spends of 151+93=244 million EUR, I just cannot see two high profile signings that would push gross spending to 492 million and net spend to 344 million.
OK that calculation DOES NOT include Hjojberg fee and potential sums from Regulion and Lo Celso sales, but latter two we have to most likely give away for next to nothing (less than 10 mil eur for both) but DOES include purchase fees of Kulu and Porro (combined 70 mil).

So - once again repeating - UP TO THIS POINT I feel that we will once again fall short on the last hurdle, make ONE LESS THAN NEEDED signing (assuming we will get 1 out of the 2 positions reinforced) which then translates into results and belief to brighter future for top class players (like Romero). There is still bit more than 2 weeks left in the window, so I'd be happy to be proven wrong and witness signing of Emerson and Eze for example :) .

We just seem to enter every transfer window with no idea of the weaknesses that really need to be addressed. We pontificate for so long that we end up leaving glaring holes in the squad that ALWAYS come back to bite us

Palace don’t need the money, do not want to sell under any circumstance, will not lower the price or lower the up front fee, do not have any FFP restrictions. Why would Levy think they would ’fold’ to sell their most important player?
It might need Eze to make a few waves but imho he doesn’t seem the type. Our biggest trump card is the fact that he seems to want to stay in London which could eliminate City. Woolwich would definitely be a danger. Also Chelsea might want to add to their squad which seems a bit depleted at the moment, that’s only when their employee at the FA can work it.

Its not a great look , I have nephews and with Social media etc the connection they get with players these days is different to what it was back in the day, like my nephew was a really fussy eater but he saw something about Ronaldo ( I know dont go there) eating steak, all of a sudden all he wants to eat is steak - where I'm going with this is I feel players who wear the shirt need to realise Kids idolise them and set a good example - this isn't that!
Still I'm not saying we should sell him but Ange needs to have a quiet word with him and explain that this isn't the kind of thing he should be doing, and then ask him why he felt the need to film himself doing it and upload it to social media! I get players have lives as well and they need to relax but they also need to realise there are kids out there who will copy everything they do as they see them as idols and its their responsibility to set a good example.
Quite ridiculous how people of all ages live their lives according to some plank on YouTube who says he/she is an influencer. I definitely didn’t want to get a perm because Glenn Hoddle had one.

Think Liverpool will go for him tbh.
Doesn’t Ange only want players who genuinely want to play for Spurs? It’s pretty obvious that Gallagher doesn’t want to. I like him to be honest and instead of Skipp would be great. We still need that more defensive midfielder though, a boss,a controller a pacemaker and Locatelli is just that type and apparently available in a bargain deal.

that one isn’t fully on the club, but it belies a lack of confidence in your supposed top target that you aren’t willing to go above and beyond to meet the fee and buy them. Chelsea are a farcical club but I still feel if we were more serious we’d have gotten him.

Anyways it just feels as if Don Paratici is going to be called in 11th hour now to clean up the mess. I’m a bit mum on Lange if this is really what his first transfer window looks like, tracking hugely expensive PL players in Eze Gallagher Neto and Solanke and ending up with only 1 of them.

Absolutely disagreed.

Everyone has some specific value. If we establish someone being our target, it does not mean we have to write a blind check if they have some issues.

Neto has played 17 games per season for Wolves. We need to aim to play roughly 50. So paying 60 mil for player available for 1/3 of the time implies that when fit, he has to play like 180 million player. Neto is nowhere near that and Chelsea absurdly overpaid for him. Never worth more than 25 mil with such injury list.

Paying 60 for him would have been idiots move, not "confidence". We saw very well with the brilliant Ndombelly-LoCelso-Sessegnong window that such "confidence" and shit scouting will actually set us back SIGNIFICANTLY and will hinder our ability to invest and offer wages for number of years.

So that was absolute bullet dodged. Now lets get someone who is not crooked by 24 please.

Tbh we don't even play with a clear 6 /8. All of them are interchangeable and Ange has said this many times so people continuously stating we need a 6 is pretty mind boggling.

£45m for Neto who has only played on average 15 games a season over the last 4 years is more than excessive, just because he was a top target it doesn't mean we should be paying stupid money for him, let's be sensible, the vast majority of football clubs have budgets that they won't go beyond and if it means missing out on a player then so be it yes even the likes of City.

Also Ange pretty much said that he's only willing to bring players in if they really want to play for this club so with that in mind if Neto chose that basket case of a club with thousands of players on their books then I don't think we can call him a target anymore, reading between the lines it seems like his or his agents preference was Chelsea, not us.
