There's no hiding from it. That is absolutely shocking. Embarrassing level of investment in the football team considering our wealth and FFP position.

So the football club can find the means and the desire to invest in a new 30 storey hotel.....But can't adequately fund a competitive football team

The whole thing is a fucking sham, guys. We're being taken for mugs.....
No wonder gooners "Want Levy to Stay "
you know when a political issue comes up and you find two very extreme takes on it?

Not sure about all tbat.

Solanke, although not a player I have seen as being at our required level, might be okay. Jury not even in yet so...

Buying players with real promise also makes sense.

It's just the absence of at least one powerhouse midfielder for me amd yet that may (I think) make such a crucial difference.

The net spend etc means less to me than our squad strength. Good but not good enough and surely could/should have been better.

You have to accept that you cannot build a top team in one year. Especially when you aren’t in the CL.

The time to push hard was 2018 when we were a consistent CL team. We signed nobody, then panicked and spent £150m on three useless players to replace Eriksen, Dembele and Rose. This destroyed the team and during the pandemic era we bought multiple mediocre players for multiple defensive managers. The only reason we stayed in the top half those years was the consistent genius of Kane and Son.

In that context, I’m satisfied with where we are. The first step to make a good team is to refresh things, we’ve done that both stylistically and with the age profile of the team. It’s 5 years late but it’s finally happened. Now if we reach the CL this season we will be able to add some more experienced quality players next summer. Players that wouldn’t come to a Europa League team. Let’s be optimistic and see what this squad can do.
Agree with when Levy should have gone all in under Poch ,but he didn’t . So the strategy is hoping Ange can massively out perform the restraints he is working under . If he does will Levy do another let down of his manager , if he does we all know how it ends . Restless fans , Ange gets fired as a scapegoat .

So the strategy remains the manager must massively outperform the owners support , same old , same old .

EDIT : If we bring in proper experienced LB / LCB cover I will be happy , although back up goalie is a massive concern

That's why I have set my expectations very low where the club are concerned.
That way, anything over that level is seen as success/glory, my eyes have seen that glory 😁

I know we just thumped Everton but I really think we’ll struggle for goals in the tough games. Our GF record for the season might be ok again because the way we play, against poorer teams, the flood gates can open. But I just don’t think we have the quality up front to really penetrate the top teams. I hope I’m wrong. I hope Son gets back to his best, Solanke turns out to be a solid striker and Johnson begins to fill his potential. It’s out bench that doesn’t beam confidence

We scored 74 goals last season, scored in almost every game and just bought a striker. 🤷‍♀️

I think solanke will be good, or at least I hope so.
As for the midfielder, yes I can't believe they have ignored that area, over the season it will almost certainly be our undoing.

Some really over the top remarks. Title challengers? We have not won the title since 1961 and as has been stated other top clubs , Woolwich, Liverpool and even MC took longer than 1 year with a new Manager to become title challengers.
Blaming everything on Levy is ridiculous. There is no evidence he refused to buy a player that Ange and the Scouting team wanted. We did not have space in the Europa squad and that is because our academy has not produced players that were starters. Kane has gone and now Skipp. The transfer team includes others including Ange and Lange and Scouts. They must share the blame for any shortfalls. We do not want injury prone players that some still believe we should have bought.
Having said that I agree that we are short at LCB and LWB. We have improved Up front and added depth and should see improvements on last season. I am still sceptical about Ange’s tactics which I consider a bigger risk than the players.

This take makes you "Delusional", a "Levy lover" and a "Happy Clapper" btw.

Shifting the deadwood we have done means we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's a faint light, and we're still deep in the tunnel, but it is there.

Ange has had a fuckton of money spent for him and still has one of the best forwards in the world in his squad. Finishing fourth would not be over performing. He should have finished 4th last season to begin with.

The winner is most likely coming from pot 1. And it's only United and Roma that stand out to me, outside of us. And we can't face any of them in this phase.
Can't we? I thought we play 2 from each pot and the only team we can't play is Utd cos we are from the same league.

Bilbao and Sociedad stand out too, Olympiacos won the conference league knocking out Villa in the Semi's, so shouldn't be underestimated either.

Because they are kids. Because a club our size means pressure.

It's mental to even think they are the amswer at their age and we haven't got the platform for them to thrive.
Ar City there is not a chance either would play more than 10 games this season.
are you OK???

you're saying the exact same thing I am regarding them being kids and it being a shame they will have high expectations early BUT you can't say we are weaker (you can't even say we're not stronger). We have to see how they perform.

I might have misread then lol

For me it very much depends on how seriously Ange treats it. Obviously Levy will expect 4th and the league will be the priority but this should be on a level footing. It nets a trophy and the same end result - CL qualification.

There's A LOT of good teams here and we can't take most of them lightly

Last season Man Utd went out to Copenhagen & Besiktas
Liverpool got destroyed by Atalanta
West ham Put up a fight against Leverkusen but ultimately succumbed

PS. I just KNOW we're going to face Fenerbache at some point.

In 25 years as chairman we’ve won 1 league cup

What’s the constant? I’m not gonna get into this and bore everyone again but a lot of our fans need a reality check
