Player Alejo Veliz

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

How anyone can think they’ve seen enough of Veliz to make a full judgement on him is nonsense.

He’s 20, and has barely played for us. Crap loan last year due to their manager throwing his toys about. He’s in the same bracket as Lankshear, Moore, Scarlett, Donley for me, a young lad who needs to get football under his belt and could work his way into the team soon.

Appreciate Moore is even younger of course, but I just dont believe anyone has seen anything like enough of Veliz in his handful of minutes for us to write him off already.
Hes not in the same bracket at all. Hes played a season in the Argentine premier and scored goals.Hes proved himself at some level. He is also leading the line for Espanyol. Albeit a shitty promoted team. But those other kids aint kicked a ball in anger yet.

Very true, he should be ahead of them in that sense as he’s played more ‘men’s footy’. I think I worded it badly to be honest, really what I’m saying is I bracket him with those players who are youngsters who may come good for us, not as a player who should be a finished article and performing week in week out for us just yet.

There just seems to be a strange thing where despite being of similar age, people are expressing feelings that he should be at a much higher level. Noticed someone the other day saying he isn’t a premier league striker in their eyes, and I just can’t see what sample size there is as of yet to know that. He could go either way at this point.

Can't see anything to suggest he's going to make it with us. Always seems a bit slow and awkward.

Mind you, I thought the same of Kane before he started scoring.

It's funny how people see things so differently.

I've actually been quite impressed the little I've seen of him tbh.
He looked alright to me. Has the physicality. He can play in the prem, but at what level its too early to say.

As it is with the spurs kids. Winks and Skipp were billed as future England players, look how they turned out.

Moore is obviously going to make it. The rest, who knows.

He’s not slow. He’s quick and powerful. I was surprised how quick he was watching him last night and against Athletico during the week. He’s a physical monster too. If he’s going to play week in week out there it’s a great loan move as he’ll grow and become a man in that league where it’s a different pressure on him than what would be at us. If he can take his team up the pitch and score goals in a team fighting in the bottom half of La Liga and helps keep them up it will do him the world of good.

Seeing his reaction last night after the game made me happy. Football is passion and emotion and the lad certainly has that. You can see he’s determined to succeed. Good on him. Hope he scores a bundle and comes back to us ready to play. Would rather see him than Richarlison.

He’s the Argentinian Drogba. I think that’s how you’re supposed to do this.

In reality nobody has a fucking clue how he’ll eventually develop. Scoring goals in La Liga doesn’t mean you can score them here either. That much we do know…

Soldado was never going to work out in the Prem. He was not particularly big or strong, and not blindingly fast either. Anybody with any amount of sense should have been able to see that.

He’s made an Auspicious start. That nomination and goal should galvanise his self belief (and his team mates, manager, crowd).

In his brief appearances, he struck me as a player who in an effort to impress was chasing the game. Hopefully he becomes a little more settled but keeps up the same work ethic.
