I watched out of a sense of duty because I'm a Spurs fan. I rarely enjoyed the experience. And we were top of the league.

I remember the 2-0 Woolwich game during covid - Son and Kane goals on the break.
You should always enjoy beating that lot but I distinctly remember being bored for 80 mins of that game and thinking what we were doing was pathetic.
No crowd didn't help but at home you can't have that shite (fair enough away if it gets it done). Despise that whole era of our club more than any of the 90s shit when I actually had albeit younger memories of the football and joy of it.

One thing though, this is not an unpopular opinion? Maybe one can get the impression in here, but outside the forum wars my general impression is that most fans are quite satisfied at where we are.

Totally flacid front line, no danger to anyone, and with ease we continue to be undone like last year.
The writing was on the wall in the pre season friendly against BM, that showed very little had been improved.

- We're ridiculously unlucky not to be on 9 points this season and have been the far better team in each of the three games.

- The underlying statistics tell us we are unlucky with the results and it's much more telling and better for our future that we're dominating but not quite getting the results than playing poorly and scraping wins. Because eventually it will actually click.

Lots of great positions, not enough great chances. Change that and we’ll fly….

Over the course of the season I tend to think results catch up to performances. Keep up how we’re playing and we’ll be good for top 5 if we have some luck with injuries.

Good to see some optimism.

Im still doubtful. We all hate Conte, he was erratic and disrepecting and it could be a tough watch. I think arguments can be made that he wasnt backed enough, which doesnt seem to be the case with Ange. Also on points per average Ange is struggling against Conte and Mourinho… Its never going to be perfect but imo we are not that powerhorse many believe us to be.

The current squad can be a great watch if everything clicks, sure. But one small slip and shit goes down. This teams reacts hysterically bad to conceding and it aready lead to a few embarassing defeats. When those floodgates open - they stay open, until the final whistle.

Lets hope Angeball is better once Solanke is in full flow. Im just not that confident

Actually quite pleasantly surprised my view is shared by many. The negativity is quite vocal on here at times.

We are all frustrated and well past ready to move forward, but a lot building blocks are in place I think. Wish we had another game or two before the scum. But it is a chance to really kickstart the season.

This is absolutely not the knock it aimlessly around the perimeter of the last few years.
Now just need to prove it by starting to make it pay off.

I don't know if this opinion is popular but I don't think our so called dominance matters. The kind of error that Romero made are part and parcel of the game. Rudiger makes these errors as does VVD, it doesn't stop teams winning titles unless your system is so precariously balanced and dependent on perfection they are terminal. Which is exactly what they were against Newcastle and Leicester. Any team not eviscerated by the finishing of Solanke and Son just needs to hang tough and wait for the error. This might have had a chance with Kane Son prime..

I think some of the chances we have made for ourselves so far this season don't end up as actual chances which overall skews xG or those chance created stats

The amount of times we've had crosses across the box in which no one has been able to tap in for example. I counted about 3 against Newcastle alone that wouldn't have shown upon any stats.

That's just easily coachable and having an actual striker on the pitch should realistically help with that.

Even though he’s aging, Sonny is still quite good. Solanke had 19 goals in the league last year. And Odebert is only 19, so hard to judge him yet, but has great qualities. (Gotta say I am ready to see Moore out there despite his age)

Brennan has the ability to be quite good in this system. Just has to be coached hard to stop being tentative.

Regardless of who is on the front line, we need them in the right positions and there for the low crosses across the box. As the guy above mentioned, several times we pinged the ball across and neither striker nor opposite winger were there. In year 2, that should be ingrained.

Well this thread is a pleasant surprise, I thought the majority were Ange out by now! Personally I love what we are building, bringing in young exciting players on top of great talent ready to come through the academy.

There has been a lot of change on and off the pitch but I think we are heading in the right direction. A win against the goons will give everyone a huge boost and hopefully we can put a run together like last season.

I think the three performances have been good and we have dominated the game by playing with authority not just because the opponent was happy for us to have the ball. Newcastle were barely able to leave their penalty area despite trying very hard to do so.

The problem is in the last third and I have some sympathy for Ange as because of Levy and Richarlison we have had to play without a striker for most of his tenure. When you are playing against a parked bus and relying on someone being in the right place to take a half-chance or make a movement to get on the end of a teasing cross, you want a natural striker in there which Son isn't (although he can still majorly hurt opponents as a striker when we play on the counter-attack).

I think those who are saying there is no change from last season are only looking at the scorelines and not the performances. The contrast between Newcastle away last season and the game last week are blinding, of course it's horribly frustrating to lose but that's because we played well. We pissed on them in their own stadium. We just need Solanke fit so we can get him on the end of chances and our other attackers can play their natural game rather than having to pick up awkward positions when we play without a 9.

We also have to accept that this team is always going to concede high xG chances because of the way we set up, but that's the same as a team like City (who are obviously vastly better than us). They dominate the ball and condense the play so you simply won't get that many chances to break out but if you do, you will find huge spaces to run into. The major difference is that City are so ruthless up front whereas we lack a killer instinct. If we find that I think we can have a really good season.

If we didn't move into a 60+ stadium and charge the highest prices in the land and have owners that try to squeeze every penny out of their fans, maybe I could get onboard yet another new cycle but really we should be demanding more.

A lot of comments on here sadden me, they really do seem to be settling for mediocrity and beating Woolwich upon our return? Ha, we'll be doing well to get a draw against them.

Ange is in round 3 of his second season, and lets not forget one small mitigating factor in that he took over when we lost Kane. We ended up 5th.

He inherited a mess.

It's not a cycle yet, and is far from it. It's barely one season and a couple of transfer windows. He has managed to get rid of so much deadwood, and has delivered some decent talent. The squad, bar Sonny is barely recognisable.

Our first 3 games, based on objective metrics should have us on 9 points. Shite happens. We lose our striker and have our backup injured as well. Let's see where we are in 8 weeks from now. The manager merry go round has achieved zip. Im enjoying us play at the minute. It's been a few years since I could say that.

I don't like the it idea of sacking yet another manager but we have to ask ourselves if Ange is cut out for our league with this club. We can't just wait in the hope he gets it right, imagine if we are knocked out by Coventry and league position is low, pressure will build.
