Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

But you're clearly not seeing it objectively. You've cherry-picked the frame where his misses hitting him with his studs (because he's out of control). It's been explained many times; the ref saw it up close, VAR reviewed it and it's a red. He's out of control and flailing at another player's knee, reckless and deliberately using his out-of-control momentum to foul another player without trying to get the ball. Is it soft? Yes! But it's the rules and he's a complete twat who would have reacted the same if he'd broken Madders knee. He doesn't give a fuck!

And no, I wouldn't be livid, because it's foul play and It's a red. Your ego's just clinging on to anything that might undermine the consensus opinion to salvage some credibility, but give it up, man! For the love of god! Take some pride with you.

I haven't seen a frame where he hit him with his studs because there isn't one so I'm not sure how I can 'cherry pick' an argument when such an argument doesn't exist?

You're another person willfully missing the point here, he was out of control because he slipped, I don't know why people keep ignoring the actual context of the challenge because it's kinda important when you're assessing whether the tackle was malicious or not, clearly it wasn't.

Come on less of the delusional takes and please use a bit of common, the fact that you even acknowledge the incident as 'soft' tells me all I need to know, you don't need to hide behind the 'it's the rules' argument because we know the riles are clearly BS.

Let's be honest , we'd all be raging if Romero was sent off for that challenge

It was soft

We still would have won the match 11 vs 11 anyways , we were so dominant and actually played better against 11

Dude! We're not ignoring it, it's the reason he's out of control, ffs! You see?

The problem is that he then flails in a reckless attempt to stop madders anyway. Please tell me you get this.

And you're missing the point on the cherry-picking, I'm saying just because he missed him with his studs doesn't mean they weren't aimed at him, OR at risk of hitting him in his reckless out of control.. yadda yadda (you get the picture...).

The entire problem comes down to the moment he decides to go for the man anyway. And I'm done talking about this.

The rules aren't bullshit, they are there to stop the bullshit. Fernandes without these rules would cripple players on a weekly basis. It's 'soft' by comparison to our years of experience with reds, but I'm happy to see our players thrash a big team playing sexy football without resorting to that stuff.

I also like it when Romero swings at people I don't like, but that's the duality of man for you!

We've moved onto the territory where you think a challenge like that will cripple players, yeah let's just agree to disagree :D

You're a wonderful man

You're comparing a challenge which was premeditated to an instinctive one, really?
Was Beckham’s a snidey flick? Its the very definition of a snidey flick in my eyes.
As opposed to an uncontrolled lunge, knowing there was an overload of he didn’t stop Maddison there and then.
The instinctive reaction when slipping is to break the fall.
Instead of getting his foot down as quickly as possible, he left it high and had no control over where it landed on Maddison. Nor did he care if he left one on him.

If you want to solely focus on the 'snidely flick' be my guest.

It's pretty obvious there's obvious differences surrounding the circumstances of the challenges.

Anyway I'm done with this debate, all good :)

That's my take on the situation. He could have chosen to pull out of the challenge entirely after he slipped. Instead he decided to flail his foot, studs up, with no idea where or how he was going to hit Madders. He just knew he was going to. Out of control and a deliberate decision. No sympathy what so ever from me. He got lucky that he didn't do more damage and a longer ban,

What a win! A few thoughts from me……

  • One of our best performances of the last few years, particularly when you factor in it’s Utd away. We were exceptional for the whole game and TBH from 1-11 too.

  • Got to start with our press. Again, I think this is the most effective that I’ve seen it. We were animals and made a back 4 who are all reasonably decent on the ball look like a pub team. They were panicked, especially in the first 30 minutes. Special nod to Solanke on that. Is he Harry Kane? Obviously not. But his effectiveness as a presser makes us more of the team Ange wants us to be.

  • Thought Kulu was quite clearly MOTM and that was one of his best games in a spurs shirt. This position really suits him; great energy, comfortable taking the ball under pressure, good presser and found some really clever passes too. Watching him break through MF, shrug off Ugarte like he was a child and play Werner in for his 2nd one on one was my favourite part of the day (sans VDV’s run). Speed isn’t an issue when playing more centrally.

  • Also want to shout out Bentancur. He’s such a wonderful player to watch with his high technical ability. He read the game fantastically well yesterday and broke up a lot of dangerous counters. There’s no doubt his form is coming back, and that the trio of him, Kulu and Maddison, whilst slightly odd on paper, is purring right now and making us tick.

  • Sounds like I’m going to be in the minority but I thought Werner was good. He gave Mazrouhi a tough afternoon and his off ball running is great. He has to bury at least one of those chances of course but his all round game offered a lot to the team.

  • Credit to Ange for that too. I wasn’t on the forum pre match but I suspect a lot of fans were calling for Biss in CM, Kulu right and Johnson left. Ange didn’t want to break that MF trio up and didn’t want to pull Johnson off the right where he’s more comfortable. He was absolutely spot on with that call…..

  • Great to keep a clean sheet away against a good side. It looked like we really wanted that too. I think our start to the season has been encouraging defensively TBH. Goals have come from individual mistakes and not systemic issues with our structure, that’s positive. Ps don’t sleep on the Vicario save from Zirkzee 🙌

  • Like the Brentford game, we seemed to move the ball quicker in offensive situations. There’s definitely been a change in our angles of attack, off ball runs and the speed at which we’re trying to create a chance. We’re not allowing teams to “get set” which was the biggest frustration against Leicester and Newcastle. Good to see!

  • Moore looking very lively. What a talent we have there. Needs careful nurturing but getting minutes like he did today will do him the world of good. I almost exploded when I thought he was banging that top bins….

  • He has been indifferent at times, but there’s no doubt to me that at his best Maddison is our best player. If he plays well we generally tick as a team.

  • Bergvall tried too hard when he came on. He needs to let the game come to him. Another very talented looking youngster though.

  • This win is all about Spurs but I’d be very worried if I were Utd fan. Their 3 new signings (Maz, De Ligt and Ugarte) were utterly shit yesterday. Ugarte had less mobility than Casemiro and that’s saying something……

This has to be a result we build upon now. Form is coming together nicely and it looks like we’re making our dominance in games tell with goals more than we did in those first couple of games.

Lots of reasons to be excited!

After his misses (which were both saved well) people were saying he should be behind Mikey Moore, who is himself, behind Son.
When was the last time Son gave anyone a torrid time like that? Sometimes the whole team can benefit from a player giving the opposition cause for concern during a match. Their FB would have been worried to get too far up cause he knew he was in danger of being left for dead.
